2014 Brides

So I finally got back to a meeting today. My Sunday leader just wasn't motivating me so I decided to try a Saturday morning meeting and it was SO much better. I am up .4 since my last weigh in which was a month ago so I'm actually quite happy because I was expecting much much worse. I'm back on! We can do this ladies. Spring is around the corner!

Re: 2014 Brides 'Official Weight Loss & Keep It Off' Thread

I was doing great. I lost 5 pounds and then FH & I got Chinese last night and somehow I am up 3 just from dinner!! I am so frustrated and fed up. It takes me so long to lose weight. I have found out that my weight loss was sooooo slow because even though I was staying in my WW points, my calories were exceeding 1200. For 2 days I tried doing WW and staying in my 1200 calories, which seemed to work well but now I just feel hopeless again. I have a bachelorette party in June in FL and am NOWHERE near my goal.. 20 pounds needs to be gone by then and it seems impossible.

Chinese food has a lot of sodium. That makes you retain water which makes the number on the scale higher then it should be. Don't be discouraged. You'll get there!

Just feels like so much time is passing by and I am not making any progress. Ugh. I am getting married in 315 days and I want to reach my goal weight by then SO bad! I would LOOOOOVE to lose 50 pounds total. How can I do this?!?!!? I am thinking 1200 calories a day, increased water and walking 5x/week but it seems like everything I do isn't working!

Well I've never eaten that little. When I lost 50 pounds I did it with walking, drinking lots of water, and 2000 calories a day. It will work. It just takes time sometimes.

You can do it girl! Make a goal to lose like 5 pounds a month, it is realistic and attainable and it is just about the 50 pounds you are looking to shed. If you lose more then thats great but you don't want to make it too much of a struggle because then you get frustrated. I agree that maybe you are eating too little calories. Google a formula for BMR. This will calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR); which is the number of calories your body will burn if you stayed in bed all day doing nothing. You should at least be eating that many calories, maybe more depending on the intensity of your exercise. Sometimes trying to eat too little calories backfires and prevents weight loss, I know first hand. When you find yourself getting a little obsessive, remember it should be about getting healthier not just about losing weight. And remember to make your calories count, eat a ton of fruits and veggies and less processed packaged items.

Last January I was 194 lbs and size 14 and now I am 140 and a size 4. I just got a job as a US Customs Officer at JFK and will be going to the academy in Georgia from April to August, while I'm there I hope to lose a little more fat but basically build more muscle strength and tone up. I used to be so hung up on a number on a scale and weigh myself 2 times a day but I try to now just go with how my pants are fitting and how I feel. I just went away to Lancaster and all they have there are buffets and when I came home my pants were TIGHT lol but back on the wagon and weight you gain that fast comes off that fast if you don't let it trickle out of hand.

Don't lose faith, it is possible!

THANK YOU!! Definitely makes me feel more confident when I actually hear people who have lost weight and kept it off. I have struggled for so many years and lost about 60 pounds and was down to 180 where I was SOOO COMFY! I was happy with my body and felt I could live my life and not obsess about it, since meeting FH I have put on 20 pounds and it is killing me! I obsess about it and weigh myself every day and if I don't see results right away I get discouraged and eat. FH & I always have at least 1 thing each weekend where we have no choice but to go off track for a meal and it always throws me off, I get super upset about it because I need instant gratification. It truly is discouraging and it is about a healthy lifestyle for FH & I but I also want to see results! I just felt so much happier 20 pounds ago and feels so far away... I guess all I can do is stop self loathing and just do it! I was doing so well the past 2 weeks and Chinese food this weekend blew it all..

We lose track we slip up it happens. We are humna the important thing is not to give up. I have hit the restart so many times I am not giving up. If I know there is going to be a social setting or event I might over indulge at I plan accordingly. Yesterday was a perfect example. I have a book club meeting and the host was doing pizza. So I took a 2 hour walk with fh and burned over 600 calories. I had a a breakfast that had enough protein in it to fuel the walk but not going over in carbs, sugar, and calories. I had a salad mid day just something light to hold me over for pizza and tons of water. To me pizza is very salty so dehydrating. I planned accordingly and was still under in myfitnesspal.com tracker which is awesome cause I still indulged but didn't mess up my day. I also lost 2 of the 4 pounds I gained back from some eating mess ups. It is slow but at least it is happening. Just stick to it you will get their. Also maybe ww isn't for you it it not for everyone. I use myfitnesspal.com its free and it helps you track calories, carbs, sugar, sodium, fat, and protein based on your numbers and will automatically adjust as you lose.

Thanks!! I have merged calorie counting and WW. I figure if I count my calories and if I am under my WW points- OK! This should hopefully (knock on wood) be effective for me, we shall see! It is such a pain in the neck! Fh & I are serious about implementing walking and plan to start this evening and walk M-F! Hoping that helps too. I drink a lot of water as it is so gotta wait and see now!

Also remember weight loss is also sometimes trial and error finding out what works for your body. Some people respond really well to the smallest changes others have to go to the extremes. My body is more of the extremes is when I find i have the best results. Everyone's body is different just don't get fustrated while you figure out what your body needs to lose. Stay positive we can do this. FH and I did a two hour walk Sunday morning we have agreed it should become our new Sunday tradition.

Thanks! Just venting makes me feel like I can accomplish this. Slow and steady wins the race right!? Haha. FH & I are gona start tonight we won't do 2 hours prob go around our complex a couple of times better than just plopping on the couch. 50 pounds is reachable!! I can do it!

So I'm a little late to join this post, but I'm starting my real diet today!! I always make excuses, and I realized this weekend how miserable I am with my weight. I'm joining a gym closer to my house this afternoon (I belong to one 35 minutes from my house bc it's close to work, but I'm never motivated to go), and keeping track of calories on my Fitness Pal again. Last summer I lost 20 lbs, and I know I can lose that plus more again. It's so wonderful to see how supportive all you girls are to each other, and I can't wait to start losing!!
