A nice debate for a Monday morning
Hey gang:I will admit that I've been a bit out of the loop being on vacation and all and I didn't see that last 2 debates other than the sound bites. So, I'm not as 'informed' as I should be at this point, but I'm noticing something interesting.
First, I know that you have to take polls with a grain of salt, but I was seeing that in about 4 different polls recently conducted (ABC, TIME Magazine), it had Bush being ahead, sometimes by 2%, sometimes by 5%, but he was ahead each time.
Also, ABC was estimating that Bush currently has 213 electoral votes, while Kerry has 207. 118 are still up for grabs, with Florida having the most votes out of that 118.
And that Republican documentary attacking Kerry will be coming out soon
And people are still sore at Kerry for calling out Cheney's daughter
And yes, I'll admit, the President's brother is governor of Florida.
All this being said, if it's all true, I think Bush is going to get in again.
How do you all read it?

Re: A nice debate for a Monday morning
Bush has NW Florida's Vote. There is very little support for Kerry here. But also between NAS Pensacola, NAS Whiting, Hurlburt Field, Eglin AFB and Tyndal AFB it is a very strong republican pro military area.Kerry didn't even try to come near this area and Bush was just here in August as well as for Ivan. I think President Bush has been here more then Jeb.
I don't know about the rest of Florida since I don't live there but he has this parts vote.

Re: A nice debate for a Monday morning
I tend to agree with what you said Don. I don't neccesarily agree with the outcome but the facts seem to be there. The timing is good for Bush regarding Kerry's comments and the documentray ( as they call it) coming out.But I still always say it aint over till its over.
If I had to say who I thought was in at this point, I'd agree with you though.

Re: A nice debate for a Monday morning
I'm still hoping there's SOMETHING to counter that kerry 'documentary'..but I don't believe the polls because most of them poll 'likely voters' which means people who votedin the last election for the msot part. This year there has been SUCH a HUGE and unprecedented surge in new voter registrations, and it's primarily young people, and I think that changed the demographic significantly. if the high voter registration results in high voter turnout, I think we have a drastically different race than the one the polls are showing, one way or another.

I agree with MaryMoon too as far as the 'polls' go...they are often biased.

Re: A nice debate for a Monday morning
I'm not so sure, Don, again i think the polls are wrong b.c of more voter registration and hopefully higher turnout. I think there are a LOT of pissed off black people in florida..hopefully that will translate into a lot of black voters on Nov.2.

All this being said, if it's all true, I think Bush is going to get in again.
If the election were today, I believe Bush would win. Kerry absolutely shot himself in the foot with his assinine Mary Cheney reference (shocker
) and the polls are heading again in Bush's favor. However, it's not today and a LOT can happen between now and November 2nd so I would not begin to venture a guess as to what is going to happen that day. Dumb things like weather that day in a certain region can completely turn a close election around so I will not be the one to speculate.
Of course, I have my fingers crossed

Re: A nice debate for a Monday morning
if it comes down to Florida, Bush will win. There is no way that there can be a fair election in Florida- it is completely biased.
it's sad to me that Bush would take a win based on a flawed voting system... but he did it once and he'll do it again.
You just think that after the first time that they'd do something about it... but why bother fixing something that works in your favor.
