Hello ladies! Shamma and I are planning on walking in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation walk in NYC on Sunday, Sept. 14th. We were thinking about putting together a group of women from LIW to walk with us. Is anyone interested??

Re: Buckets and Friends Walking for Cancer!
This is a pix of survivors
Don't forget if your hubby or FI would like to participate there is the 3 miles of men that cheer us on as we walk, so they can participate too
Three Miles of Men® One of the most unique and visible ways to support the Komen New York City Race for the Cure® is by joining the dedicated fathers, sons, husbands and friends of Three Miles of Men®. If each person running or walking in the Race registered just one man to cheer her on, we would raise more money and awareness than ever before for the fight against breast cancer in New York City.
Remember – ALL registered participants can support the fight against breast cancer by continuing to raise pledge money! We need your support!

I would really like to do this! I'd like to walk in memory of my grandmother who we lost in 1998 I miss her so much! I am sure that my sisters -- will want to join us.

I wish I could do this, but no way would my doctor let me walk that distance. She just told me that I can start swimming again.
I have been involved in many different Susan G. Komen activities since my best friend Joanne died of breast cancer in 1998. It is such a worthwhile cause and I truly hope that many, many LIW ladies participate. I will be there with you all in spirit.

Registration is $100 right? Also, I like the idea of the t-shirts -- can we wear them during the walk or must we wear the shirt they give us? One other question -- you guys are walking right? I don't think I could run 3 miles

Wendy, if you can't walk there are other ways you can volunteer leading up to the big day, we will take lots of pix for you. I will add your friend's Joanne's name to my bib and walk for you.
Shamee I am so excited that you are interested.

No, we are walking, the registration is $25 I think. I think you are talking about the AVON 3 day walk, that I think is $100

Re: Buckets and Friends Walking for Cancer!
Leelee, I am thinking of us walking in celebration of the women who are no longer with us, instead of walking in their memories, we walk in celebrating their lives and the legacy they left to us.
I LOVE that idea Shamma!!!! It's so positive and wonderful!!

That's what its all about being positive and thinking that one day there will be a cure when this cancer will no longer take our moms, aunts, sisters, friends and cousins. I always say, I have breast I have to care. 1 in 2 women will get some form on cancer.

Count me in!!!! Breast cancer is rampant in my family and thank god all have survived. My aunt just got diagnosed a month ago and she is lucky to be alive - it was pretty bad.
Tammy/Lee-Lee and friends - I can drive to your houses and take the train in with all of you!

I'm not a Bucket, but I'd love to do this. I lost my nanny to cancer about 8 years ago.
Count me in. Definately. And I'll try to get my sister to join me.
