Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

We booked almost everything ourselves, but wound up getting a travel agent to help with the interisland flights and stuff, for us, it wound up being cheaper having the TA!

I am very interested in going to Tahiti for my honeymoon. Can you girls tell me where you did your research on the islands, like things to do there, places to eat. What are some good websites I can look out?

Also how you did you research on pricing? Did most of you use travel agents?

Thanks

My FH did almost all of the FP research on tripadvisor.com. It's very detailed and helpful.
We used a TA and let me know via FM if you would like her info. She's very responsive and professional.

Good Luck!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

I can't wait for Tahiti either...going to be so amazing!

Congrats on booking! Sounds like a great itinerary....you are leaving Nov. 13th - I go later that month...can't wait to hear what you think and see how the weather is for you!

For the person who asked about where we did research...I also used the tripadvisor website and that huge Tahiti travel book that everyone on here recommended. This is another great site....post on the message boards with any questions - everyone is really helpful!!! Good luck!

Thalasso girls, which bungalow are you staying in? I am afraid the emerald is not what I am picturing, do you know what the differences are?

The Emerald OWB's are the lowest category but honestly I couldn't afford much more I'm just crossing my fingers for an upgrade or something...we'll see. They have a map of all the OWB's on their website...I just can't seem to find it right now...sorry. But here is a description from the website...hope this helps!

What is the difference between an Emerald, a Sapphire and a Diamond Villa ?
The three categories have exactly the same layout and comfort inside, the only difference is the view and the location. Emerald Villas are the closest ones to the hotel's buildings and they have the view facing the beach and Motu Piti Aau (islet). The Sapphire Villas are located between the Emerald and Diamond Villas and they have the view facing the lagoon and Bora Bora Island. The Diamond Villas are the furthest out in the lagoon and have a view facing the islets 'Motus' and the reef.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Looks to me like the best Emerald OWB to request ahead of time is #206. It's right next to a DIAMOND OWB and it doesn't face other OWB's. But yes then we pray for an upgrade when we arrive!!!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

I'll be there the exact same dates - 10/23 through 11/3...actually we leave tahiti on 11/2 and get to LA on 11/3 and then will be flying back to NYC. We didn't want to do the direct flight!

Staying -
1 night in Tahiti at the Intercontinental in a garden bungalow
Ferry to Moorea (saved us a few hundred dollars and is only 45 minutes)
Moorea for 3 nights at the Intercontinental in a beach bungalow
Flying to Bora Bora
2 nights at Hotel Bora Bora in OW bungalow
4 nights at the Intercontinental Thalasso in the mid-level OW bungalow!

The ferry is a lot of fun, actually! I posted some (OK, a LOT!) of pictures somewhere in this thread. You will see our pictures from the ferry. I really liked it because you get a different perspective as you approach the island. Great way to travel!

What's the best way to go about booking the ferry to Moorea? We're not using a TA.
