Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

My travel agent just e-mail me. Due to the price of airline fuel, Air Tahiti Nui is raising thier prices as of June 1st.

If you have not already paid for your tickets you should contact your TA so that you can pay for them now, and get the lower price.

The price is only going up $65 per person, but I figure that's money that I can put towards an excursion or dinner while on the HM.

Someone else posted this already....I emailed my TA about it and she didn't know - she has been out of town. She said she was going to contact the Tahiti Tour operator and get back to me. I'll be really annoyed with her if she doesn't get back to me in time and we have to pay extra...I'll have to keep on her. Thanks for the reminder!

THALASSO Girls.....just wanted to post a link for you from the Tahiti-Explorer forums. Someone from NY posted that he just got back from his honeymoon - ended it at the Thalsso. He said the soft opening is great...beautiful resort and nothing to worry about. He said the free meals included are great too.......he mentions he will post more about the hotel when he has time. I'll watch for it and post a link when he does...

Here is the link to his current post:

Post on Bora Bora Thalasso

That was really refreshing to hear, thank you!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

heatherfaith - So exciting!!! If you're taking 2 suitcases (we are too) then I would split your clothes in each suitcase. So put half your stuff and half your FH's stuff in 1 suitcase and do the same for the other one, so if one piece of luggage is lost at least you both have some clothes to hold you over. And pack light!

As for the plane bring some travel games (scrabble, poker, cards, etc)!

Did you pick your excursions yet? We are definitely doing the shark feeding, helmet dive, parasailing, renting a buggy one day and renting jet skis.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Hey ladies! I am booking my interisland flights and can't seem to decide what times to book them for. I am taking the ferry from Papeete to Moorea, which runs hourly so that's no worry. I've heard you don't need to purchase the ferry tickets in advance. But I am not sure what time to book the flight from Moorea to Bora Bora. I believe check out is 11am in Moorea and check in at Bora Bora is around 3:00. Should I stay in Moorea, have lunch, then go? And what about my flight back to Papeete? If check out is 11am in Bora Bora, should be head back to Papeete immediatly and check it out before our 11pm flight that evening? What are your thoughts?

These are some of my choices:
MOOREA BORA BORA 1130
MOOREA BORA BORA 1330
MOOREA BORA BORA 1410

and then

BoraBora to Tahiti 1355 Arrival time 1440

I'll check my itinerary and flight times at home tonight and post them for you. My TA suggested leaving Moorea I think around 11am-noonish...basically leave after breakfast I believe. I personally would stay in Bora Bora as late as possible before heading to my flight in Papeete.

Christine- I wouldn't take the last flight from BB back to Tahiti, just in case... take the 2nd to last or 3rd to last flight so you know you can take a later flight if something happens! I think we're taking a 1 or 2pm flight back to Tahiti and our flight isn't till 9pm. We are just going to go around tahiti to the shops and stuff until our flight home.

Going from Moorea to BB... take an early afternoon flight... I think ours is 11 or 12 in the morning. Even if your room isn't ready in BB you can go to the pool!

Denise...I was just goint to post the same link! Love his review on Moorea Pearl and the Thalasso!!! Sounds good about the outlets...I was worried about me figuring out what converter to bring. He says Moorea Pearl has American outlets and the Thalasso will provide converters for you. I need it for my camera and ipod chargers!

Here is a quick link to his review...

PS - as for snorkel gear...I personally have panic attacks when I have tried to snorkel in the past. I know - I'm a loser But I will try it again there...see how I do. I bought my FH a mask and snorkel just on amazon.com for Valentine's day with some other stuff for the honeymoon. It was a good price. Just bought a basic one. From what I've been told it's crazy to travel with the fins b/c they are big and take up a lot of space and you can just get those from your hotel. But for hygene purposed it is good to have your own snorkel. You could get them at any sporting goods store or just order online! HTH!

Girls...sorry I'm finding good stuff on the Tahiti-Explorer boards today...

You have to check out the pictures this guy posted from his HM...they are amazing! WOW - I could stare at them all day. Only hotel that I am going to that he went is the IC in Papeete (and I'm only spending first night to sleep there)...but just seeing all his shots really put me in a good mood...thought you girls would enjoy them as well. He stayed at the Sheraton in Moorea and the Bora Bora Nui. And some other island too he went to...here is the link to his slideshow in Kodak Gallery:

Can you share an estimate of prices for:
Flight
Rooms (we are most likely some beach and some over-the-water bungalows)
Excursions

The Papeete airport has a storage room where you can store your luggage. You have to pay for it, but that's what we did when we had to kill a couple of hours before our flight home.
