I'll be on my HONEYMOON........I don't plan on staying in touch with anyone back home...haha! It's just 11 days...they can survive without hearing from us for 11days! But yes - calling cards or email or whatever just to let someone know we arrived safely. You can get email access probably from most hotels...esp the new one on Bora Bora if that's what you're looking at.
I wouldn't worry about it though - enjoy your honeymoon!!!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Thought some of you may be interested in this....apparently there is no more shark feeding....at least on Moorea. They were becoming too dangerous! YIKES!

Link to post about no more shark feeding

I am not upset by it but thought some of you may have been excited to do that...

Someone from the Tahiti-Explorer boards shared a link to their pictures and I was terrified at how many sharks were in the pictures...here is her link:

Link to shark pictures and other gorgeous Moorea and Bora Bora pics

Just in case you don't have a Kodak Gallery acct and don't feel like opening one...here is a pic of the sharks!!!

why would anyone still want to do this after hearing its becoming dangerous? Getting my arm bit off just isn't worth it.

I don't think anyone got bit, did they?? I just think too many sharks were coming around in that area where they do the feeding so they are stopping for a while. Since it's only on moorea (they think) i'm going to see if Bora Bora is still offering it. The people who run the tour know when there are too many sharks or when to get you out of the water.

Help us choose for Moorea:

Pearl Resort
or
Intercontinental Resort & Spa?

I am staying at Pearl in Moorea on a garden bungalow with Pool. Pearl is a nice resort but I think Intercontinental is nicer.

We are doing intercontinental for Tahiti & Bora Bora

That's what we're doing! But a beach bungalow at moorea pearl.

Our itinerary is:
1 night tahiti intercontinental (garden room)
4 nights moorea pearl (beach bungalow)
5 nights bora bora pearl (2 nights garden pool bungalow & 3 nights OWB)

We chose the moorea pearl because it is in a great location and close to many shops/restaurants... plus we saved a little by staying there and not the interconti.

We chose the bora bora pearl because of the GREAT reviews and location.

My friend stayed at the Moorea Intercontinental on her HM and hated it! She didn't hate the hotel itself...she said the service was really bad. I forget exactly what happened but she was very upset with their stay there. She was so annoyed with her TA for recommending it. She told me to do the Pearl instead so I am. Moorea Pearl..doing the garden bungalow with pool there.....saving up to do 5 nights at Bora Bora Thalasso in an OWB which I cannot even wait for. I am dreaming about those OWB's!!!
Your idea/plan sounds great!

I'm terrified of the sharks too....but FH was probably definitely going to try it so I was going to be brave and just do it. We'll see now. They are apparently very small sharks...they look large enough in that picture I posted though don't they?
Hey no one answered yet but do you know if those sharks are in the lagoons around all the OWB's?
I heard the lagoon around the Thalasso on Bora Bora doesn't even have good snorkeling so I'm hoping that means no sharks there too!

Yeah that sounds great.. thats what we had originally but changed it because of flights and thats the only reason why our hotels switched in BB.

ETA: But we are still doing Moorea Pearl --- I heard geat reviews about Pearl for BB and Moorea

make sure you pack a blow up raft to float around in the lagoon! I picked up 2 yesterday at Walgreens for only $2.99 each! If there are sharks...you can just float around and not even have to put your body in the water : )

And Thalasso girls....I am hearing from the few reviews out there so far (Jess...thanks for posting the link to the first tripadvisor review...I've been checking it every day for a review!)...that the water around the bungalows is very slimy from all the construction and building of the bungalows...so some people were recommending water shoes for at the Thalasso...just wanted to mention that.
