Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

we packed a ton.. lol..
we packed the two large suitcases and we took a carryon each.

we were afraid of going over the weight limit on the inter island flights. but, we were fine and we brought way too many clothes.

i think you are fine with the two medium bags and the carry on. dont forget to bring books to read on the plane..

usually the rain in tahiti lasts about a week and then it is clear for months.

it just so happened we caught 4 days of the rain. but it was fine, it didnt matter, we were on our honeymoon in the most beautiful spot in the world!

also- another thing we did, we made a journal of our daily activities while there. i stopped with 3 days left,i still have to finish, but it is awesome to go back and read it and reiminisce about tahiti!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Thanks for the tips on packing...I am really going to try to keep it light and not overpack too much! I'm just going to plan out my dinner outfits (can def. re-wear a black skirt or something here and there...just use different tops...and I have a bunch of sundresses which are so light and easy to pack!)...I think I should be ok!

I am so excited...not sure why b/c they are just minor things but Moorea Pearl just sent out this update this morning...new flat screen tv's in all rooms! New bed linens in the garden pool bungalows....new walls around the garden bungalow patios! Sounds like good stuff! Can't wait...we leave late next week...FINALLY!!!

Ia Orana dear friends and partners,

Moorea Pearl Resort & Spa is pleased to announce a significant array of amenity additions.

Our primary improvement is the addition of private pools to all garden bungalows. The property now features 28 Garden Pool Bungalows, each with a private garden and pool surrounded by a wood fence which offers total privacy and intimacy. This bungalow category is unique on the island of Moorea and is ideal for families and honeymooners seeking tranquility.
We invite you to experience these thatched roof bungalows, located in the heart of the property’s lush tropical garden.

At Moorea Pearl Resort & Spa, we are committed to guest satisfaction and enjoyment, and are always looking for ways to improve and upgrade our resort. Please find here below the additional amenities that are now available:

- Extension of gourmet restaurant Le Matiehani to be situated near the recently-expanded beach, offering a unique alternative to dine under the stars

- At the Auteraa poolside bar, enlargement of the garden to include tables, chairs and umbrellas

- Installation of 26-inch LCD flat screen televisions, including four movie channels and Pay TV, in all 95 rooms, duplex and bungalows

- Installation of a 40-inch LCD flat screen television behind the activity desk to showcase excursions

- New, Italian bed linens in all rooms, duplex and bungalows

- Cushioned bathtub head rests in all overwater bungalow bathrooms

- Addition of canvas lounge chairs, both poolside and on the private decks of garden bungalows

- Installation of solar panels for purposes of economizing hot water production

Our team looks forward to welcoming you in Moorea’s Hidden Paradise.

Sunny regards from Moorea

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Fi and I are considering staying in garden or beach bungalows on Moorea. We were wondering if either of these types of rooms get a lot of bugs (ie, mosquitoes, sand flies/no-see-ums). We don't want to get bitten a lot and don't want to have to hear the sound of bugs getting zapped all night. We figured overwater bungalows may not have as much as a problem, but they are expensive. So if none of these options work out, we would probably just get a regular hotel style room (no bungalow). Any advice?

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

It probably depends on where you stay. We were in a garden bungalow in the Moorea Sheraton and never had any problems with bugs. The hotel sprayed the grounds once a week in order to prevent any infestations.

We stayed in a garden bungalow on moorea at the pearl and had NO problems with bugs at all. we didnt hear bugs being killed either. it was wonderful.

we saved the owb's for bora bora- there were better views.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

HI all!
I am new here and am beginning the planning of my Tahiti honeymoon in December of 2007! I am really confused! It seems like this thread is really old and has alot of information! Is this the best place to post my questions or on another one?
It took so long to get to the end!

Anyway, we want to go to Bora Bora, Moorea and maybe a third island. I have started trying to plan this myself but it's so confusing!

Does anyone know anything about the Sheraton in Moorea and the Intercontinental Thalasso in Bora Bora? How about a third island. We like to mix with the locals so we are looking for a place with some authenticity at the end. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

we didnt stay at the sheraton on moorea- but visited the resort, it was beautiful- just as nice as the pearl on moorea. dh got his tatoo done at the sheraton.

the thalasso in bora bora was phenomenal. it was a dream come true resort. we loved every second of it - except when it was time to leave!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Thanks so much for the feedback! I heard the Sheraton had a really nice beach. We are pricing the Thalasso with a couple travel agents. What catagory did you stay in there? Can you see the island from all the bungalows?

thank again!

we had a view of the resort from our bedroom window, but out on the boardwalk you can see the entire island it is gorgeous.
we stayed in an emerald bungalow. all the rooms are the same with the exception of the view- we were in a diamond room just to look and they have a view looking at the motu.

all were stunning.

thanks angnick!
We are thinking of doing the Sapphire villa at the Thalasso. We are members of the Ambassador Club and they say they give an upgrade guarantee. So we were hoping to maybe go from Sapphire to Diamond! Thanks so much for the info!
