For those of you who wear contacts, did you just go into the water & do all of the excursions 'blind' if you will ? I'm sad that I won't be able to see anything

Yeah. That's what I did. I was really afraid of getting some kind of eye infection while on my honeymoon so I did not wear my contacts at all while swimming. It wasn't too bad, but I guess it depends on your Rx. Mine was -3.75 for each eye.

no way!! i wore mine all the time.. i have been wearing them for years so it doesnt phase me.. anything underwater i wore my snorkel gear which you will do regardless there... and for jet ski and such i had on sunglasses which you need anyways to block the sun and be able to see..
DH has never worn contacts before until a month before the wedding and he wore his contacts the entire trip with no problems..
dont not wear them!! u'll miss out especially if your eyes are as bad as mine!
just pack an extra pair..

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!
I have another question for those who have stayed at the Thalasso in bora bora-- how expensive is the spa? I can't find prices anywhere online.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!
DH and I went to the Thalasso in May of this year. Here are some sample prices in Euros and XFP from the brochure we got in the hotel room:A la carte body wraps, hydromassage: 46.1-150 Euros / 5,500-17,900 XFP
A la carte facials: 78-154.2 Euros / 9,300-18,400 XFP
A la carte massage: 75.5-192.8 Euros / 9,000-23,000 XFP
A la carte body treatments: 92.2-129.3 Euros / 11,000-19,000 XFP
There are also packages that can last 1, 3, or 5 days for one person or two people. There are a lot of options, but here's the spectrum on price:
Two-person, one-day package: 212-750.8 Euros / 25,300-136,990 XFP
Two-person, five-day package: 2101.3 Euros / 250,750 XFP
DH and I had a la carte massages (not together) and I had a facial. I'd say the employees are as skilled as the workers in high-end day spas in NY but are priced a lot higher. I think the extra value is in the surroundings--you can get a massage with a glass floor and watch the fish in the lagoon, chill out in the outdoor tea lounge, or hang out in the well-appointed saunas, steam rooms, and showers. Bring your bathing suit to hang out before or after your service. I didn't (booked lunch right after) and regretted not being on the spa premises longer.
If you have a specific service or package in mind, FM me and I'll price it out for you. GL!

Wow! Thanks for the info. I think I'd go for the 1-day package.. why not, right? Do you know how that works- is that the one where you have access to their spa pools & saunas?

Why do you think you need to take them out? Do you usually not wear them when swimming, going to the beach, etc?
I only take out my contacts when I go to sleep, no matter what we're doing... I didn't even think to not wear them in tahiti or any vacation. I wouldn't be able to see a thing without them in! Then again, my eyes are really bad -5.25 in each eye.

I've never worn them in a pool & I know when I wear them in the shower and if I get water in my eyes, they start to stick to my eyes & it kind of hurts. I'll try it on the first day of the HM & see what happens.

Ohh... I always wear them in the pool & ocean and even in the shower. Yea i'd try it out the first day b/c you don't want this beautiful place to be blurry!!
I wear disposables that I change every two weeks so I brought 3 extra pairs with me... didn't even need them.

Access to the saunas, tea lounge, and shower is included in the price of every service. There are no pools on the spa premises, but there are pools on the hotel premises. Sorry if I wasn't clear. What I meant was that I didn't maximize the spa amenities because I left right after my services. Does that make sense?
There is a list of spa prices here. The list says it's current to 9/06, but going through it quickly, there's no price difference in the brochure I have from 5/07. It's a .pdf on the right side of the page.
You're right that there's no list on the Intercontinental Thalasso spa site, but there is an external link to Algotherm, which runs the spa. The spa uses all Algotherm products.
There are 11 one-day packages, which you can get for one or two people. Cost and time spectrum for one person: from 1 hr, 20 mins / 212 Euros / 25,300 XFP to 4 hrs, 40 mins / 604.2 Euros / 72,100 XFP.
GL and please let me know if you have additional questions.
ETA--package pricing.

I was at Thalasso spa and there were several pools on the spa premises that you could only use if you used the spa...so I'm confused by the above statement???
There is 1 pool on hotel premises for anyone to use...and several little dipping pools, jacuzzis, ice pools, etc behind the spa for spa users only???

I'm sorry, you're right. I had forgotten about the smaller dipping pools in the spa. I thought they were decorative, not functional. I didn't see anyone using them when I went (I had two appointments at different times) and the staff didn't refer to them as amenities. Perhaps they are used for hydrotherapy or another service I didn't use. Did you use the spa pools?
