Girl who called Z100 this morning about East Wind! Please Read.

You're in-laws are being ridiculous!! Ronkonkoma to Wading River is not a long distance to drive. I had family coming from Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Jersey out to Bayport. DO NOT concern yourself with this. Everyone has had to travel to a wedding at some point in their life. You do it because you care about that person and you want to celebrate with them.

I turned on the radio when they had already started discussing this. I didn't realize they were only going from Ronkonkoma to Wading River! That's not that far at all!! I don't understand what the family is even complaining about. I feel like when all is said and done they will be there.


P.S. The DJs upset me when they were saying how much they hate when people plan weddings on holiday weekends and how Danielle told her mother to RSVP 'No' to a wedding just because it was on Labor Day weekend. I know I shouldn't even care what they think, especially considering that's what the discussion was about this morning ... but I didn't plan my wedding for 9/2 to get a discount Danielle! Ugh...

I knowwww - that holiday weekend thing irritated me SO MUCH.

I am planning a wedding for the night after Thanksgiving.
2 reasons:
- I LOVE the Christmas decorations/feel, and I didn't want a december wedding (too close to Christmas.
- OOT family will already be here to celebrate Thanksgiving! They don't need to fly in twice.

There was certainly NOT a discount involved because its a holiday weekend. In fact, our Friday night is the same price as a Saturday, because its considered holiday.

I usually love the z100 guys, but this made me SO MAD this morning!

As for the holiday weekend thing, I actually paid a SATURDAY price to get married on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.

I wanted that day because we had A LOT of OOT guests and I figured they could travel to the wedding and back without using a vacation day.

I'm paying saturday prices for a Friday for the same reason!

I can't believe people actually feel that way.

I'm glad you emailed them!

I originally was planning my wedding for a Sunday night because it's cheap and we're paying for our wedding. I knew most people wouldn't want to/ wouldn't be able to attend because of work the next day. So I wanted either Memorial Day or Labor Day weekend knowing that everyone would be off and could come. I was doing it for my guests not because I wanted a cheap rate, which I didn't even get!! We ended up having to take Saturday afternoon which ended up being the same price as the Sunday night.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one ticked off at them.

I live in Westbury and I am having my Wedding at East Wind. I said the same thing, if people want to be there, they will travel.

I booked rooms in case they want to stay out there also.

Ronkonkoma is 20 min from there, that is nuts!

I'm mad that I missed this on the radio!! At first my dad was worried about how 'far' East Wind is from our house, but it's really not that bad at all. He came around once he visited it more and realized it wasn't a bad drive at all and that it's a beautiful place!

We're having our wedding smack down in the middle of Christmas and New Year's. I don't think it's rude when people do that at all- I think it's fun (personally). So glad that some of you girls emailed them!!!!!!!

everyone travels - everyone!!!

I live in Queens - and FH lives in Brooklyn - and our wedding is in Smithtown!!!!! its a good hr drive - but Ive had to travel to Westchester county, NJ, hamptons to go to weddings - as EVERYONE does - so I'm not concerned with ppl driving an hr to go to my wedding ... after all - its on a sat night - and they will have Sun to rest!!!

I felt reallly bad for the girl on the air, and I wanted to call up and make her feel better.

- regardless if your wedding is on a holiday weekend, a fri night, sun night, tues night - the ppl that are the colsest to you who REALLY want to go - will go - regardless of what day and what time and where it is ... where theres a will - there IS a WAY!!!

WOW! so mad I missed this!! I am getting married on labor day weekend too and we aren't doing it to save money at all! We are doing it on a friday and it would be the same price on any other friday! Its the date I really wanted because i'll have 3 days after that, that my family can stay an extra day without having to miss work!! That is crazy! and for the people who say its wrong cause they ar doing it to save money.. weddings aren't cheap on Long Island anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow they are so lucky that I did not hear that this morning!!! I would have called them and gone crazy on them. FH & I are getting married Thanksgiving weekend (Saturday after Thanksgiving). We were originally booked for Dec. 2, the following Sat, but his cousin booked their wedding Dec. 3rd (a whole other issue), so FH & I decided to switch our date to Nov. 25, and we are actually paying $10 more a person to have it on that weekend. So for Danielle to say that people do that to save money is BS! We are paying about $2500 more because we changed to that weekend. I hate when people talk about things they have no idea about!!!

It takes me about 30 to 45 min from the St. James area to get to East Wind, so Ronkonkoma is a little closer.

I would drive for someone's wedding, it doesn't bother me. Also, I went to a wedding on New Years and thought it was fantastic!!!

i didn't hear it this morning but i definitely agree with all of you... most of the time they charge you MORE because it's a holiday weekend and they know they can get you...

however, even if someone did take a holiday weekend to try and save money-- can you blame them?!!! weddings cost SO much these days i would never blame someone for doing that if they could save some money...

i usually love the z100 people but they were totally wrong this time!!

... oh yeah and i almost forgot:

my cousin got married at giorgio's which is further than east wind (took us about an hour) and i actually enjoyed the drive out very much. it was a beautiful day, we rolled down the windows and the route was really scenic-- we liked it!!

so east wind is NOT far at all, all EW brides don't worry-- most people don't think like that!

Hamlet Wind Watch in Hauppauge! I almost booked Estate at East Wind.
I was between the Hamlet, Estate and Watermill.
