Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
We were just a two weddings in the past two weekends...Floral Terrace: DH and I walk in and it has a pretty grand hallway (in an 'old school' way). I go to the ladies room and there is only a hand dryer and about 50 women in the bathroom.
The ceremony: room was very pretty. The ceremony was supposed to start @ 7:00. It didn't kick off until 7:45. A waiter was coming around taking drink orders when we first sat down for the ceremony- and then he never came back. No biggy but Dh (with the way he is) gave him $20 bucks..everyone else got drinks around us..oh well.
The cocktail hour: You have to walk a flight of stairs from the first level to the second level for the cocktail hour. We walked in and the bar wasn't even visible-there were so many people on line. There must have been at least 300 guests at this wedding and one bar with two bartenders. Dh and I kaboshed the drink idea and went straight for the food. So many stations. The food was excellent.
The reception: another flight of stairs.- which was fine, but I did hear some people complaining. A couple of older women said, 'who would do this to their guests??' We get into the reception room and it was absolutely beautiful. They had a band-something..St.Charles. They were great. Everyone danced.Food was great. The bar situation was much better in the room. The love table is so pretty. Oh and the best was that the bride and the groom had a platter of every entree served so they can have alittle of everything. There were no bathrooms on the reception level, so you had to go back down a flight of stairs every time. That definatly got alittle annoying. All in all it was a good time.
Last weekend we had a wedding in Cutchogue. It was @ the brides family's house on the water. I have no idea what vendors she used but everything was phenomenal. I can find out if anyone is interested. Oh and try not to wear heels if you have an outside wedding-definatly bring flip-flops...no-one will care.

I went to a wedding at North Ritz Club on Friday. I had a great time. Any of you who are getting married there have nothing to worry about. The couple had the reception there and they set up everything very beautifully. You can see the waterfall on the right side and everything was setup very tastefully and pretty. One thing that I noticed was that one of the chairs where I was tried to sit was dirty. So we moved up to another row of chairs. After the ceremony we proceeded to the Cocktail Hour. They had a bar setup outside. We all stopped to get drinks. The MaitreD was very nice and was trying to keep everything on schedule. He let us know that the CH was starting. At this wedding, they had about 100 guests. There was plenty of seating during the CH and everything was setup very nicely. The food at the CH was very tasty and delicious. They had pasta stations, which were very tasty, seafood salad or you were able to have this on a wrap that was also good. They had calamari that was really really good. This part I enjoyed the most. The hordeuvres (spelling?)were also good like sesame chicken that was very good as well. I really liked the service during the CH and the reception. The waistaff was very prompt in removing the empty plates, folding napkins and were very courteous. They had three selections for the food. FI and I had the chicken and I had the sea bass. FI said the food was good but the chicken a bit dry. Since I had seen some of the girls from here that are having their wedding there in the future complained about the cake in their posts, I was really looking forward to see this. But I didn’t get close enough and when they had the cake cutting, we were outside as they had a cigar hour and even though I don’t smoke, I was outside with the group that was sitting at my table. Overall, I liked the place. And the bathrooms were clean and very presentable. I’d say this is a very nice venue for a wedding and it is also a place where the staff was very friendly and very helpful in terms of doing their jobs.![]()

I'm reading everybody's different opinions and feel I am definitely a different wedding attendee than most. While I can see where all of you are coming from, I definitely judge weddings on how the crowd is. I think an empty dance floor is MUCH worse than so-so food. IMO- If you have time to really scrutinize the dessert and dinner, you're probably not having that great of a time. AGAIN- JUST MY OPINION!!!!P.S. I've been to almost all of your wedding sites, and have always had a GREAT time. After all...What's better than a wedding?

Fox Hollow:
I went to a wedding there March 2003. The cocktail hour was inside and terribly crowded. The tables were long, and you could not get out of your sit because they were so close together. The bride couldnt walk around. The champagne that I was handed had lipstick on the glass already!
If the cocktail hour was outside I bet it would have been much better.
Oh man, Lipstick on your glass?!

WESTBURY MANOR: Food was okay, Cocktail hour was a little packed, they did not have enough tables out.JERICHO TERRACE: It's like a wedding factory in my opinion, so much going on at once, there was a prom going kids were coming into the ballroom, we had to share the same bathroom they were throwing up it was a mess I felt so bad.
GLEN ISLAND CLUB: Cocktail hour was inside/outside, pretty setting, Food was good, didn't like how the vienesse hour was downstairs in another room, everyone left and was sitting down there and no one was in the main room with the bride dancing. Def a nice place for a wedding
SWAN CLUB: Too packed, and our table was right infront of the bathroom.
LANDS END: loved it! Good food, Good views!

When I was at Giorgio's this past weekend, there was a doorman, someone passing out champagne and as for the seating, their is not only indoor, but they seat for like 100 outside on the deck! And the food was incredible!!!! My family owns restaurants, and this food blew ours away! Everything at Giorgio's was amazing. I made an appointment to go for info for my wedding.

Giorgios (6/05)- the place and the grounds were stunning. But i have to say i was not impressed with the food or service. Which was shocking since i had been to a wedding there before and LOVED IT. As guests arrived the were stuck in the middle of the entrance not knowing where to go...NOBODY there to even ask. We stood around for a 1/2 hour to 45 mins.until there was an announcement as to what to do. I found that very iritating. Gardens were beautiful. Getting there was a PITA. Cocktail hour was less than impressive, dinner (i had the chicken it was ok, the side of potato was gross; DH had the steak which he did enjoy.
I have to agree about getting there. It was 2 hours for us so we ruled them out. We did not try the food (although we got a $50 gift certificate) so I can't comment. It was just too far out to even go back for the free dinner.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
Hamlet Wind Watch?I'm thinking of getting married there but am concerned that it is too small to accommodate the 180 people we will be expecting , particularly with regards to the dance floor. Given that everybody dances I don't want it to be too crowded. Any thoughts????
Thanks in advance for your response

Did you try to do a search for hamlet windwatch (it's one of the buttons up top)? You may find something. I think there are a few hamlet brides.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
I love this thread too...Great Idea!! I didn't really see much on my place (Riviera, Massapequa) but I can help with the many places I have been to.CORAL HOUSE: (Guest)
The wedding was on a hot sunny Sunday in August in 1997. I was not happy with the overall place. I enjoyed the outdoor CH but it was VERY hot to be eating on the roof.
There again on 6/02/05 (weekday evening. I was there a few weeks ago for a teachers dinner. Definitely better. A new chef, less crowded, and waitstaff was great. I am really picky with food though. I can recommend the salad, it was very good. The Chicken Dijon was ok too.
CREST HOLLOW CC: 9/28/01 (BM)
Too many Brides going around. The DJ kept the party good. Food was OK nothing to rave about. Not much to get excited about here.
HARBOR CLUB: 5/25/03 (BM)
EXCELLENT!!! One of the best places. Food was great. You are served a fish, chicken, and meat dinner. I do not like fish so I could sub 2 chickens. Again, can't say enough about the place. View was wonderful even though it was misty and the weather was not great. One wedding at a time. Which I love. Only thing is the bridal sweet was crowded. Only problem but I was not in there a lot.
NORTH RITZ CLUB: 5/28/04 (guest)
Beautiful wedding. Food was great. The whole thing was a lot of $$$$ but what an incredible wedding if you have lots of money to burn. CH was outside and in. The Viennese table was TO DIE FOR. OMG! Did not even touch the cake. I also gained 8lbs from that wedding
I thought the place was terrific. Only thing is not really any view or place to go but stay inside on the dance floor. But what a beautiful place. STEWART MANOR CC: 8/2003
Nice place tucked away from everything. I like that it is off the beaten path. Food was good and service was very good. Bar was attentive and great drinks. Only problem with this place was valet must have been busy. We were told it would be a while if we wanted to take the keys and go. I was shocked but after dancing all night now I had to walk to the car around the block. I was pissed. HATE THAT!
FLORAL PARK TERRACE: 10/2004 (guest)
very nice place. I really enjoyed the food here too. The CH was one of the best I have ever seen. Nice spread. The place was an old movie theater so I loved the old ceiling. It was a great place but again only complaint is that nowhere to go. I like outside places like if you need fresh air you can step outside. This place did not have it.
Well Ladies, I hope this helps. I find the other reviews helpful too. Honestly all the places had good and bad points. Enjoy your wedding and planning the day wherever it may be.
Good Luck!!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
Leanord's (As a guest)I have a lot of problems with this place. I had never been there before and was really looking forward to going to a wedding there. The place itself was very clean, but a little bit gaudy for my taste.
To start, at the cocktail hour....I asked one of the two girls at the pasta stations what one of the pasta dishes was...she turned to the girl next to her and goes 'What is this called again?' To me, your staff should know the name of what they are serving. And if they don't, they shouldn't make it so obvious. Pretty much all the food at the cocktail hour, although not bad tasting, was cold.
The reception didn't get much better. The service was some of the most unprofessional I have ever seen. While I was up on the dance floor, a glass was broken right behind where i was sitting...instead of sweeping up all the pieces and shardes of glass, the girl simply picked up whatever big chunks she saw. So me and my FH kept finding pieces of glass under our feet the whole night.
A girl came out to bring us bottles of wine for the table, and proceeded to literally drop a bottle of red wine into the ice bucket from about a foot above the bucket. It crashed into the ice and with that she stormed away. Everyone at the table looked at each other in disbelief.
I could go on, but I'll just say one last thing, I've never been to a wedding where they didn't put a piece of wedding cake on each person's place setting. All they did was cut the cake and put all the pieces on a big table in the front of the room and not even bother to tell people it was there. I know this review is harsh, but I have read more than a few reviews of Leonard's that are less than favorable. I just thought people would want to know.
All in all, the food was fair and the place was fine...but the lack of professional service and complete disregard for courtesy by the wait staff really overshadowed anything good I could say about it.

Went to a wedding at Milleridge Carriage House-great wedding party for about 75 people, the room is very nice, spacious and classy. The food, honestly-average.Also been to a wedding at Fox Hollow-loved it! It was so beautiful. I wish they accomodated smaller weddings. That would of been my first and only choice. All the Fox Holow brides, you will not be disappointed. Food was great, the ambiance is beautiful and classy-from the linens to the lighting...lovely!
I have also been to weddinng at Huntington House-not my style, kind of an overbearing ambiance. Food-below average.

labor day weekend 2002
Villa Lombardi's
It was so typically 'long island bride'... plus there were at least 3 other weddings at the same time. It was huge! If that is your style.... then you will love it. very over the top, very showy, very much of everything.
If I am not mistaken, Villa's only does 2 weddings at a time.

Villa Lombardi's can do up to 3 events at once. They have two reception halls and an additional room. There is one as soon as you walk in one the right and then past the stairs on the right is the other hall. They also have a room at the far back (at the opposite end across from the front entrance) that I saw a party in when we visited. It was not a wedding. I was told they don't do 3 weddings at once though - so maybe they purposely book other types of parties for the 3rd room?

weekday 2002
sandcastle was silly. it just looks silly in each of the ballrooms with the styrofoam cut outs. the lobby is nice. the food is decent.
weekday 2004
the huntington townhouse smells like stale cigarettes, as if they can't get the smell out of the carpet. It is very gaudy, but the food is terrific and the space is huge and the price is low.
weekday 2003
floral terrace is silly also with the murals. one of the ballrooms has a raised dance floor, which makes everyone seem so spread apart. I never saw people on the other side.
Why do you write that everything is 'silly'? I'm kind of failing to understand what that means. If you didn't like the decor, that is your opinion but reading that things are silly doesn't make sense. I've been to floral terrace and thought the murals were beautiful. I do undestand people write their honest opinions on this board, but sometimes feel the opinions are a little much and insulting. I guess to each their own.
