I'm so sorry to hear that!!!! My mom had her ring stolen from her house and they had it insured, and so did my grandmother many years ago if you can believe it, so I know it's terrible.

Does insurance cover a lost ring? Thats what Im stressed about. My fiance was saying it would, but I thought it just covered things like if the diamond fell out. . I feel like such a loser.

Well you can't say for sure that it was lost as opposed to being stolen if it was in his pack someone might have seen it when he told money out and if they are good they can get it out and you will never know it

I work for an insurance broker (we’re the good guys). I’d call your insurance company immediately. If you had your appraisal done and notified your insurance company of the ring, then it should be covered for the value it was appraised for. Hence, why some jewelry place appraise higher than they sell.

It’s considered lost not so much ‘stolen’. Depends on what kind of claim rep. you get. I would normally recommend giving them the bare basics to less confuse a claim, but in this case I suggest you turn on the water faucets and cry out in complete dismay. Being an ex-claim person I know how many evil people out there happen to ‘lose’ a very expensive ring just to cash in. It’s so sad, but most seasoned claim reps always think hard on ‘lost’ jewelry.

Most policies exclude ‘mysterious disappearance’. So beware. On the fair side, not all insurance companies are jerks. But the saying is.. always expect the worst so you’re never disappointed at worst and at best you’re pleasantly surprised.

Thanks you guys!! Does anyone know what teh insurance will cover? My fiance is going to call when he gets a chance, but Its killing me. If its not covered, Ill be getting a bubble gum machine ring.

Ronnie..thanks for telling me that. Im scared. We have State Farm insurance and it was definately appraised when it was bought. So most likely we are just SH(*^ out of luck right? This is like a nightmare!
