Is Hey Ya by Outkast approriate for a wedding?

IT'S MY FAVORITE SONG!!!! But there's those lines 'Don't wanna meet your Daddy, just want you in my caddy' 'Don't wanna meet your mamma, just wanna make you cumma' -

Does anyone know if the clean verison cuts those out?

I love that song too!! I think the words are so fast in that song - will anyone even realize what is being said??

The song is about divorce... LOL The irony alone would be priceless.

Uh, But does she really wanna
But can't stand to see me
Walk ou the dooo..
Don't try to fight the feelin'
Because the thought alone is killing me right nooww..
Uh, thank god for mom and dad
For sticking through together
'Cause we don't know hooowww...

We've been together
Ohh, we've been together
But seperate's always better when there's feelings
InvooooooOOOOOOOoooooooOOOOOOooooooOOOOOlved
If what they say is ('Nothing is forever')
Then what makes, Then what makes, Then what makes
Then what makes, Then what makes LOOVVEEE?
(Love exception) So why you, why you
Why you, why you, why you are we so in denial
When we are not happy heeeerrreeee...

I don't know if it's about divorce - it is about breaking up, i doubt the people in it are married. Anyway, I really don't care - it's an amazing song!

Divorce = breaking up

And the comment about parents staying together leads me to believe it's about divorce...

It's also gotten played out.

I like that song too, it's your day and pick whatever you want. I do agree that the words are so fast people won't even realize

Hey if you like it, why not??? People play 'I will survive' at their wedding. If you read into every song that one was playing at the wedding all what you would have his slow songs.

It's funny.. my FW and I love the song 'Animal' by Nine Inch Nails. The lyrics basically go like this -- 'I wanna F--- you like an animal.' We are totally looking for a CLEAN version. It's just too raw for the reception and our guests.

I'd say go with the clean version always if you think people can make out the lyrics. Remember you're probably worried about older people, they may not be really listening or understand what's being said in the song.

I am going to have the dj play it, I don't think that most people would know what the lyrics are anyway.

I wouldn't play it...I think it is played out to. Plus if you are already worried about lyrics and searching for clean versions then don't bother, either play it as is or don't play at all in my opinion.

That is so wierd I just downloaded that song! I was telling FH that it's one of the rare new songs thats actaully good. It sounds very different. I like it and I would play it. I'm sure your DJ can get a clean version.

I say play it. It's a 'feel good' song, the kind that makes you want to sing and dance. I wouldn't worry about finding a clean cut---its just a few seconds of the song, and it's just entertainment anyway. I'm sure no one would have a heart attack from those lyrics.
