Is it rude to ask the grromsmen to wear yarmulks even though they are not Jewish. Keep in mind we are having an interfaith wedding. Please be honest...thank you.

Honestly, I would not ask anyone to do anything they don't feel comfortable with. Maybe you should ask them first. Especially if they are other religious beliefs.

I am catholic - but i have jewish friends - I wouldnt have a problem with it - maybe if you were to ask them first?
my FH is in a wedding and the couple is jewish - they are getting married in a temple and he is ok with wearing one.
however some people are not as open about religion as I am so I would ask.

i dont' think so... years ago, i was a JR BM in my aunts wedding- we're christian, and she married a jewish man... and they had a bunch of yarmulks that most of the guys- even the male guests put on.... i think its a nice way to show and honor both faiths...

Not rude at all IMO

I think so.. I would probably be offended because it's asking me to represent a religion I'm not a part of especially since its interfaith and multiple religions are being honored.
ETA: Making it an option probably isn't bad, but I think if it were a requirement I would be bothered.

I dont think its rude to ask if the y would do it, but rude if you try to force it on them against their wishes or get upset becuase they dont want to do it.

I am honestly not sure why you would even want that. I am not trying to be rude, nor do I think it is rude for you to ask of them like others said as long as you give the option but if they are not Jewish why would you want them to basically look like they are??
Please don't take this the wrong way. I'd wear a yarmulk for ya

FH is not Jewish, but he gladly wore his for his best friend's wedding. We still have it, it's a nice one. In fact, there were non-Jewish men as guests and they gladly wore them as well during the ceremony. I don't think it's rude to ask. He might say no...but I'm sure if you ask nicely and say that it's Jewish tradition he'll at least say no politely..or may say yes because it means something to you/FH.

So maybe I should say something like: 'Would you wear a yarmulka' or 'Would you mind wearing a yarlmulka'. Both these saying just do not flow right...and I am not one to make anyone do anything; however, I believe in 'uniform' - if one GM wear it, they all have too.
Maybe I will just scratch this off my list and not even ask.

Re: Is this RUDE...
Two of our GMs were Jewish; three were not. Only two wore them and I didn't have a problem with the lack of uniformity. DH didn't ask his three Catholic groomsmen to wear them.

Maybe try this:
Joe, we were wondering if you would mind keeping Jewish tradition at our ceremony by wearing a yarmulka. It would mean a lot to us if you would, but we understand if you would rather not.

I agree. I don't think it is rude at all.
I have been to a couple Jewish weddings and most guys put them on out of respect for the couple and the ceremony.

I dont know if I would be comfortable or FH would be comfortable with it. But your groomsmen may feel differently.

Actually I was just thinking about the Groomsmen in detail. They are a bunch of 'jokers' and 'wildboys' - maybe its not a good idea to ask them, they may not take it serious.

Re: Is this RUDE...
Honestly, I hadn't even considered the idea of NOT having the groomsmen wearing yarmulkes. None of them are Jewish (neither is FH), but we are having a Jewish cermony and they are a part of it - I just assumed that all men involved would wear them, didn't even think it would be an issue. Honestly the best way to go about it is to talk to them, they're your (or at the very least your FH's) friends and would hopefully be considerate of your wishes. Maybe go with 'We would like all of the men participating in the ceremony to wear yarmulkes, would you be okay with that?' Good luck.

I don't think so at all. My FI was in a wedding and he wore a yarmulk. He had no problem with it. He was doing it because his friend asked him to and he did it without question.
