Re: Offical Caribbean Thread Calling all Islands
FH and I are both guyanese.....we don't really want it, but fh's mom is ordering a black cake, besides the cake we'll be cutting, so that's probably the only thing we're having that's 'caribbean'.

I am from St. Kitts and my FH is Jamaican,...we will be having black cake, some Caribbean food such as oxtails and Roti. We are also will be having steel pan playing for the ceremony. Seeing as though almost all of the guest are WestIndian we most definitely will be playing Reggae and Soca. We are also having drummers and pan players to enhance the Dj. That's all for now...lol...I'm sure by next week I'll add something else...lol

Ladies you have such great ideas
I guess there is no party like a party with black rum cake The BM at JT is actually serving it side by side with our wedding cake and for our chafing dishes we are having among the common stuff fried plantains, jerk chicken & griot (fried or baked pork) ummmmm. They are going to have to stock up the bridal suite

OMG My FMIL makes a really good rum punch, I think I'll have FH ask her to make some for the engagement party or the wedding or maybe both....

FH is Jamaican & I'm Panamanian. We will be incorporating foods from our culture at the CH. And we will also be having black cake. Music is going to be very important so there will be a lot of spanish and reggae music.

I had even more of a dilema choosing a dj because we had to choose a dj with a good comand of salsa, merengue, reggae, dancehall, kompa, and some hip hop and r&b. Mom is insisting that we must have the black cake as well. I love the stuff, but the FH is not all that into the black cake. Did you choose a dj?

Nope not yet. That is the hardest thing for me. I was going to use a DJ That is well know amongst the Panamanians here in NY they play really good. They play everythinh from Reggae, Soca, and of course Salsa, Merengue, Tipico, and all that good ****. But considering that I'm getting married on Labor Day it might be kinda hard because for the past 2 years they have played on the parkway. So we shall see what is going to happen this year. My family is very into their music more so then his so it is very important because they are party people.

Yeah. I'm going to look into Ultimate Sounds DJ I hear they are really good with the Spanish and Jamaican. Their pricing is supposed to be really good too.

Re: Offical Caribbean Thread Calling all Islands
They pretty much play a little something for everyone, but they sit with you and customize based on your needs for your day.
