Official African American Brides Thread
I enjoy speaking to all the ladies on LIW, but just want to see what are some of the African American brides are doing for their weddings. Let's talk about what music we want, what traditions are we incorporating into our ceremonies, reception, just anything!!! Looking forward to hearing from all of you ladies. It's been hard finding infomation talored for African American brides so let's get this going!!!-Tiffany

Re: Official African American Brides Thread
My FH and I were discussing what jumping over the broom symbolizes. He believes that its a slave tradition that should be forgotten. After some research I discovered that jumping over the broom orginated from Africa and was really the only traditional ritual that slave masters allowed. (Many traditions were forbidden and therefore lost.) But:' Jumping the broom' symbolizes the sweeping away of the old and welcoming the new, or a symbol new new beginnings.'

My main concern::: Hair & Makeup
Who are you ladies using ??
I have no idea. I know I'm lighter so makeup isn't necessarily a huge issue for me, but my BP comes in every shade. For makeup I'm looking into Alaine Handa. For hair, I have no clue. I know I need someone who can handle weave and who can also handle my really curly hair
