Re: **Official Italian Bride Thread**
I'm dancing with my mom to Piccolo Fiore (it's her favorite song)...She danced to the ever popular Mamma with my brothers at their weddings.Other songs for father/daughter dances that I know of are:
Lauretta Mia
Figlia Mia
...there's another song but I can't think of the name-let me see if I can find it somewhere.

I love Piccolo fiore. The only thing was that the words didn't sound appropriate for a parent/ child song.
Here are the lyrics:
PICCOLO FIORE (I Teppisti Dei Sogni)
VERSE 1
Degli occhi tuoi, non so il colore
So solo che mi fanno impazzire
Quando ti guardo mi chiedo se
Sarai piu bella se verrai con me
CHORUS
Piccolo fiore dove vai
Perche vai in giro per il mondo
Si ti fermassi solo un momento
Ti accorgereseti che c'e qualcuno
Qualcuno che ti vuole amare
E non ha paura dell'amore
Como tu sai so puo soffrire
E qualche volta si puo anche morire
Como io per te, como io per te, como io per te
VERSE 2
Degli occhi tuoi, non so il colore
Ma sono belli piu grande del mare
Pieni de luce, pieni di sole
Non hanno pianto mai per amore
Come vorrei avert vicina
Sentir la tua voce ancor di bambina
E stare con te mente fuori piove
E vivere con te tutte le mie gioie
CHORUS
Como io per te, como io per te, como io per te,
Como io per te...

It's so cool to see an official Italian bride thread!Me: First generation (parents are from Sicily.. Provincia Palermo & Provincia Trapani)
FH: Second generation (Napolitan/Sicilian)
Anybody here have 'old school' 'off the boat' Italian family like mine? They drive you nuts but you gotta love em lol...
I've also heard 'lauretta mia' & 'figlia mia' for the father/daughter dance at Italian weddings... and 'mamma' for the mother/son dance...
I wish there was more selection... You hear the same songs over and over again at every wedding...

Seeing as how my family is off the boat Sicilian... I am going to have issues finding a hall that serves traditional Italian food... and not American... God forbid it's not authentic mangiare Italiano, who wants to hear them!I find that most places have a more Americanized or mixed culture menu... or if they have an Italian menu, the food's not that good..... Frustration!

Any of you ladies have the same problem? Where did you book?

YAY for us italians!!!!!!!!originally me & FH were not going to do wedding favors, instead donate money to a charity... WELLL my very italian grandmother practically hit the floor in shock and despair when she heard this... now she is taking over the favors and doing everything herself!!! she also tried to convince me that i had to invite these family members that i havent seen since i was about 6 years old..... with all do respect, shes not paying for the hall, me & FH are - i understand that i'm her 3rd grandchild (out of 20) to be getting married, but she has to understand that we are on a budget here!!!!

I totally feel your pain TM2008...My family is sooo old school and that's great and it's what I love about them.. but FH & I have insisted from the beginning, against our parent's wishes, that we wanted to take care of the expenses on our own without our parent's help (we also wanted to do things our way and not drive ourselves too crazy)... That's hard enough to do without having to make everybody happy!
It's like you have to factor in everybody's opinion/expectations... and FH & I are trying to do this all on a budget...

Hi All, I'm looking for the song from Gigione, Figlia Mia, but I can't find it anywhere on line. My DJ thought he would be able to get this song but he has been unsuccessful finding it. I live in San Diego and I'm getting married tomorrow. Can anyone help me? If you can, please email me at [email protected] and thank you so much! Gina
