Hey
Most of my wedding is going to be in Spanish.
The invites, ceremony, etc. ( My FH don't speak a lot of English. lol)
I am having padrinos (usually they pay for cake, but my RH includes it.) The are the witness and party of the bridal party. If you are doing a lazo they are the ones who usually put it on. Also if you are have someone sit up with the bride and groom it is them.
I am also having pajecitos(don't know if spelling right). They a mini groom and bride. (very Cute)
When I started planning my wedding my father wasn't happy because 'no Kids'(unless in bridal party). My father was also upset because he had to invite certain people(we don't know).(no way)
Also we are both Christians so I go to one church, my fh goes to another and my father is a assoc. Pastor in another. People are inviting themselves to our wedding(and their friends).
My FH is 1 of 10 children. My father has 9 sibling i(which each as a min of 3 kids. Some have 10+). Thats just part of my family. So I totally understand the too much people.
My RH don't have a Spanish station. They do have paella and arroz con pollo for the CH.
Also if anyone knows a great place to get a Tres Leche cake please let me know. (hopefully not too expensive)
Evie
p.s thanks for posting butterfly kisses in spanish. I had been looking for it every where and couldn't find it.
Did you say tres leches!!! Thats what we had....we went around all of Brooklyn looking for the best one and found it at El Mana Bakery in Cypress Hills (we looked at a bunch of places, one of them tried to give us pound cake with lecherita and call it tres leches!!!)
Our cake for 100 people was $250 and included decoration of natural flowers...check my review the pics of the cake are there....if you want to check them out FM me and I'll give you the info

would the dj's have a list of popular songs? I want FM entertainment, who are u girls thinking of choosing?
I have no idea who to choose, i just recently booked my hall and im going to meet with Duet photography tomorrow but everything else no idea..lol
Ahhhhhh! let me know how it goes. Im meeting with them next week thursday. im excited and nervous!
Love DUET...they are my photogs...a few of my epics are in my album. We went with Danny as our photog.
When you meet with Eric he has a pretty heavy accent but he really does try to work with what you want and need...don't let the accent deter you.
Did you meet with Eric in the Manhattan office? That is where i'm going tomorrow. I just hope they are within my budget, i really love their work.
I met with him in the Huntington office.
Hoenstly of the different vendors we looked at Duet was the most reasonably priced for everything we wanted.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!
Awww thank you
...i hope he is within my means, like every other photographer's gallery that i've seen on their websites haven't really excited me, only one other i think her name was erica lyn. She had an excellent portfolio.

We are going with either Elegancia or FM. FH loveees salsa...I know that this may come to you all as a shock but I'm not very good at salsa. I've been thinking about taking lessons.![]()
I told FH i want to take lessons because i dont want to look like a fool dancing w/ all his family.. but at least you won't be able to see what my feet are doing..as long as I've got the rhythm down pat..i should be ok -
Has anyone been practicing at home? We're going to put on Music Choice Salsa channel one Sat night and just practice! LOL

My FMIL wanted a salsa band, but i thought it would be too much salsa all night so we are going for a dj to play a little of everything.I practiced a little like last year for my cousins wedding and i still was horrible lmao..but i haven't practiced recently. That's a great idea about Music Choice, i should definitely tell the FH to practice. He doesn't need any practice because he went to dancing school when he was younger, was even at the PR parade on a float salsa dancing.

my mom call me and told me she found a singer who mainly sing old fashion songs or slow baladas and he is going to sing 'Por amor' in the ceremony (a singer sang that song at my parents wedding too) and he is going to sing other songs during the cocktail hr too

lol...i know what you mean...but i might get my Grooms cake from like a Dominican baker because the bakers at Valencia are terrible now and i love the fillings that Dominican cakes and Valencia cakes have. I'll probably go to Corona because that's where i live by.
Where in Corona? Please not Nitin, they turned horrible over the years. And I think they actually closed.
Oh no please don't say that....lol...i guess i would have to look at some other place.
They moved a few blocks away. While I do agree that it has gone downhill over the last couple of years....I must add that my aunt had a cake made their for my cousins sweet 16 and it was pretty good. I was surprised!

I know i'm an old married hag now compared to you brides .....
but wanted to say as a fellow latina myself (puerto rican / peruvian) we used Elegancia as our DJ with the percussionist and nearly 2 years later we STILL receive compliments on the music and how great the DJ was!!! we went to a wedding in March of some friends this year--and they used Elegancia also and loved it again! We incorporated the 13 Arras (monedas) into our ceremony as our little homage to our hispanic roots. (DH is 1/2 puerto rican and 1/4 irish and 1/4 german.)

Sooo.... Are the Latin relatives wanting to invite everyone and their vecinos. Sometimes our people just dont understand that weddings are not a come one come all. Thank God my parents were cool about that, but I invited tons of people from their friends.
OMG!! YES!! My grandmother keeps telling random people 'you have to come to Yoli's wedding'
I told her to stop inviting everyone and their mothers! lol

I need someone with patience to teach me lol. I've been considering classes but I know that if you want to learn on your own there are instructional videos on YouTube that can help with that lol

You girls are hilarious! Glad to know I'm not alone here. My FMIL is flying in half of the population of Costa Rica. They mean well though- shows how proud they are.

We booked them way back in like 2005...and since then we've sent sooooo many couples to them and all of them were beyond happy. Jose really is a fantastic as well as the rest of the staff. He put himself thru medical school by DJing--and now he is a licensed physician -- but chooses to pursue his DJing full time cause he loves it so much--just shows how much he loves his job! (I believe he still teaches medical students during the week also!)
We are getting our video edited- (long story I just got the raw footage last wknd) - but when I get it done and I have it online--I will be sure to post it on here so you can see and hear how cool the percusionist sounded!
I have tons of pics and stuff in my review!
