Welcome Annette! Eileen , you rock with the upates! I saw your flower post! I have Vendellas too!
I am going for my tasting Saturday. When I called to confirm, Kristy said we could go over final details, then instead of coming back in 2-3 weeks. So, FILs will be there, but at least I can get it over with. September is looking a little crazy right now.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!
Long one, sorry.
Ok, so it's almost 4 mos. after the thread was started but I wanted to ask some questions pertaining to the menu. I'm relieved to hear that CH was not a problem for Nov. 1, 2003 (whose review/pix are lovely and I remember that rare, hot weekend!!), as I was nervous about having older guests be uncomfortable if they didn't get a seat.
My fear, although all have said positive things, is the menu. We went for a tasting in March and then booked it that day, but truthfully it's the atmosphere & spirit of the Milleridge interior that we loved and made ME book it...not the food. FH had no probs. Food/music are the two most memorable things for guests, no? The chicken florentine, if I recall, was tasty, but dry. The baby carrots were tasteless and overcooked. We enjoyed the appies (my FH doesn't eat shellfish or pork so he'll have to stay away from the raw food bar, but we don't want to order many appies w/ these items in them and 90% of what they offer has that). Plus, my family's Italian so my mother hopes to have pasta as a first course choice, not just as a cold platter during CH. Nadine's our BM, but Leslie & Kristy or Chrissy (?) were at the tasting and accommodated our requests saying they can do whatever we want, which also helped to make us sign that contract. They're very relaxed and always helpful.
So, were there any Ital. brides married there or any that have had tastings w/ these concerns? I went to their open house on 3/30 and the clams didn't taste good and the beef was ech, so I got nervous until someone sensible told me that all I need to do is communicate w/ them that I'd like to make sure the beef &/or clams are tender...etc. I've actually gotten over the food fear but thought it couldn't hurt to bring it up in case there is any sound advice to be given. Thank you!

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!
Hi Annette- Don't worry abotu this post being started 4 months ago. We add to it all the time.
I am not married yet, but I had my tasting theere last week. They are very accomodating with the menu.
Penne Vodka is a choice for the appetizer witht eh dinner ont eh 2 star menue. Soudns liek you are goign witht he 3 star--not sur eif it is on your enu, but it is avaialble. And they could proboblay change it to another pasta that they offer during the CH. Like pasta primavera. When you do your menu planning all these things come up & ther a re more options than it appears on the menu.
FH & I are both part Italian, but ALL my family functions are always Italian food, so I tried to mic it up a little. We are having the asparaugs ast he 1st course. We are havign penne vodka & pasta primavera a tteh pasta station.
We are not having the seafood, at the CH but everything was great. The stuffed baked clams are more stuffing than clam, but I don't actually like clams, so I liked it that way.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!
Darnit, I always keep my computer on too long and my msgs. don't go through b/c I have to re-login.
Just wrote a note touching base w/ the Milleridge gang to see how you're all doing. I am now feeling the pressure simply b/c it's Sept. and my wedding's in November. I have tons to do, all of a sudden. They'll get done, b/c they have to, right?
Congratulations!!! to all who've celebrated their special days, recently, and good luck to all who are still planning.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!
Question for the Milleridge Cottage ladies: I'm concerned that the main bar may pull too many people out of the reception. Did anyone else have this concern? How are you dealing with it?
many thanks!

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!
I'm not concerned about that b/c everything's open. The reception hall is open to the atrium and to the bar/front door entrance, no? Plus, folks will be going in and out and dancing, etc. I don't see it as an issue. I hope you don't find it is one at your wedding.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!
HELP! OK,I know most of you are Cottage brides, but in the Carriage House we have a choice bewtween oval&round tables & FH think 10 is too many at a round( they hold 8-1O.) the ovals are 10-12. Is the maximine#at a table too crowded?
FH is really concerned & I need to finalize this today!

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!
If it holds 10, then I wouldn't worry about it. You would think it looks a little tight but it won't be. I think we'll have 2 ovals (bridal party plus dates) and the rest round. HOw many guests do you have?

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!
We have 86 including us.
I know, that isn't a lot, considering the minimum is 75, but my claustrophobic, worry wart FH, thinks it is going to be tight. We were at a wedding like that ( not at the Milleridge) & it was awful, but they were pushing the room limit.
The table with 12 has to kids, and one other one will have 11. Not sur eif the 10 peoples should be round or oval though.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!
How many can you fit per table with 86 guests? That is not a lot so I think you can definitely use the round tables and they open up the room more.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!
well, there is the issue of divinding people by group. so mostly we have 10 person tables.
a few 8s, one 11,one 12 & 1 six that I don't knwo what to do with. I have to call Kristy about that one. I called yesterday but forgot to ask that.
She said for 10 people it could be round or oval. I guess oval gives you more elbow room & round more walking space, but FH wants there to be lots of room for both.
