Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Hello ladies-My name is Jackie and I am puertorican and my Fiancee is Ecuadorian. We are getting married in August of this year. Everything is done, except for the honeymoon. We are booking it this week. We are going on a Western Carribean Cruise(7 days 6 nights).
As for how many people we are inviting to the wedding the count is at 140. And my wedding party consist of 2 best men and 5 grooms men, 3 bridesmaids and a man of honor.
I cant believe the wedding is less than 8 months away.
I want to add some latin flava to my wedding but i am not sure how. What are you doing?

What made
you go with the Asian inspired reception?
LOL
well... See the picture.
Our invitations are in chinese and in english. Our wedding colors were to be based on roses that Jim had given me while we dated. He was always good with roses..
See the colors?
They are Red with Yellow.. so the colors had to compliment the roses. A red dress seemed to fit.
Originally we were going to have Bamboom steamers with a little spanish 'blanket' inside and a spanish treat and chinese lucky coin in a red envelope all placed inside the steamer. But that ended up being VERY expensive for our budget. So the chopsticks came up pretty easy. Then we started thinking... chopsticks, bilingual invitations why not just go for the Asian inspired? so here we are.

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Hola SenoritasI'm Jennifer 31, from Manhattan, yes Washington Heights..lol But I'm Puerto Rican and Cuban.
My FH, Michael, is from Albertson, near Mineola, and he's Italian and Polish.
Our kids are gonna be all kinds of weird...lol
I have to two major things done, we booked with Swan Club, in Roslyn. And we joined the parish where is parents were married.
I am having a small bridal party, just my little sister (MOH) and my best friend (BM), we might expand to include my brother and his girlfriend, but not sure yet.
I don't think I will have a bi-lingual mass, because his parents church is polish, so I think all english will be just fine.
Finding the dress seems to be my biggest plm, being a plus size girl, and not wanting anything sleeveless, which is very popular, is hard, and I don't really like anything in David's Bridal.
Are there any other girls from the city here?
I am still reading all the posts, this is a long thread...lol
Blessings Mujers!

OMG!!! I just found this thread! This is awesome! I am a Latina bride and my FH's family is Italian and Irish. Our kids are going to be mutts! LOL!!
I need help- I need to book a Salsa band. I saw that Stein Weist has one. Does anyone have any suggestions? As you know, Salsa needs to be played just right or else the entire sound is spoiled!
Any info you gals can send would be great!! ¡Gracias!

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
How come I am just seeing this for the 1st time? I have been on here a long time too. Anyways........Debbie, also a Latin bride.1/2 Cuban and 1/2 Ecuadorian=100% Spanish
FH is Italian for most part, a small part German but between the two of us, we are just one dark couple with some curly hair to go with it.
I already got a DJ who is playing what is necessary at the wedding to get all my Latin family up, dancing and having fun.
So,Hi everyone!

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
wow- this is really cool. I am Jessica, and although biologically I am Irish, Norwegian, and French- my father)the man who raised me since I was 3 years old) is Puerto Rican. Oddly enough, this is the 'part' of me that I relate to most (since I have had no contact with my bio father) My FH is half Nicaraguense and half Salvadoreno, so my kids are going to be VERY confused! LOLWe are having a bilingual ceremony, and it has been interesting trying to incorporate traditions from ALL facets of my heritage. I need to have a DJ with a latin flair (my dad is a latin jazz musician, so that is the music we listen to) but that can also play rock and Sinatra too! any and all help is greatly appreciated. I hope we can keep this thread alive!

Hola Amigita's,This is an old thread, jeeze I think it was started around the time I first joined..lol
Welcome and let's try to keep it alive...
What kinds of traditions are you going to incorporate into your weddings...
Old Cuban Wives Tale, For every pearl a bride wear's on her wedding day, it will equal the tear's in her marriage..
To wear pearls or not to wear pearls?? lol
Also we will have a Cuban Cigar Bar (well not really cuban's unless I can get some from DR..lol)

Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Hola Mujereswell I will start of by saying that I am Salvadorian and my Fh is Colombian.
We are getting married at the Floral Terrace. I have hired Elegancia entertainment for my Dj and I will have a Trio at my CH.
I am having a small BP can I just say all my cousins were really upset. But I thought that is one last headache dealing with drama SO I opt with a MOH, BM, RB, FG and 2 Jr. BM. That is it. I will have a full mass and the traditions I will have is las 'arras' and el 'laso' which I picked my padrinos for them. I will also do the lighting of the unity candle
as for hair I am salvadorian we have pin straight hair.
Has anyone looked for limos?? Need recommendations. My day is coming soon and I feel SO behind.
Does anyone have a calligrapher??
One last question what song are you using for your father and daughter dance?
Thanks chicas
