Re: Paging all Latin Brides
Hi allI'm Puerto Rican and FH is Ecuadorian. FH recently mentioned having 'Padrinos' which kind of threw me since we are already having a best man and maid of honor. He mentioned that in his culture the Padrinos are sort of a symbolic gesture to someone that has been there for you. I personally never heard of this before.
Are any of you having Padrinos?

How about the marc anthony song 'my baby you' He wrote that song for his daughter. There has to be a spanish version of that song.
LOL- thanks. I like that song, but 1) I am mad at Marc for marrying J.LO (sorry if anyone is a fan) and 2) it's a little too mushy for me and my day...we don't have a relationship quite like that- then again, my dad doesn't speak spanish () so the salsa version may work well if he doesn't realize HOW mushy he's being!!!!
My dad and I don't have a great relationship either (parents are divorced, mom raised me) so I thought my choice was perfect! I wanted to d 'Daughters' by John Mayer but my fi shot it down, he said it was too 'rough' and my dad shouldn't be offended the day of.
DE NIÑA A MUJER
- Julio Iglesias - C. Enterria - Tony Renis - Ramón Arcusa -
this is great Sasha. I will see if FH can download it from Itunes! thanks!

Hi! We had a Padrino, my fi's brother, and it was purely symbolic. Other than wear the tux he was basically a groomsman, but fi wanted to give him a 'special' title plus he was the Padrino at said brother's wedding, so there it was. My sis ter was supposed to be my madrina, but she backed out, so the padrino was alone.
The best man and Matron of Honor were completely different people and had real duties (like planning hte bachelor party, handing out tips, doing my shower, getting everyone together, etc.). HTH!

I'm another one who didn't see this until now.Hola!! I'm Janna, 1/2 puerto rican, and the rest is russian, italian, polish and spaniard.
FH is russian and polish, therefore our kids will be confused!!
We definitely have to have salsa music at our wedding or my mother's side of the family will have a fit!! Luckily for me, FH likes some Mambo Kings and is insisting on it being played!!

Spoke with mom about this last night. She REALLY wants me to have a traditional Guatemalan wedding. But I told her Im doing as much as I can without compromising my FH's sicilian side. Anyway, even though Im not having Padrinos, we came to the agreement that my sister (my matron) will be my Madrina to make my mom feel better.

my moh is Guatemalteca (sp) and actually my a lot of my fh's family is from there, though originally his mom is Nica and his dad is from El Salvador.
the only thing Guatemalan at my wedding (besides MANY guests LOL) will be a few marimbas spread out here and there! no padrinos or madrinas, unless someone wants to sponsor the wedding!!!!

issues with my father .....my dad is a very controlling 'hispanic/ machista father' both my parents are from Paraguay, South America (tiny country) anyway, my dad has been very controlling and does not want to 'let me go' he always gives FH an attitude and is very mean to him ...i just needed to vent about it i guess it makes me very sad...i spoke to my dad allready but he doesnt seem to notice that what he does is really hurting me and FH, by the way FH is also hispanic (Colombia) sorry just feeling a bit down about it

Thank you! Very excited to see this, especially since I need to find a song to dance with my Dad. Plus FH and I have been discussing choosing a latin song as our first dance. I'm 1/2 Cuban, 1/2 Ecuadorian and FH is 100% Italian but he asked if we could find something in Spanish, so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. TIA
