I think the place is more important. I too prefer a night wedding to a day wedding though. Mine is on Friday night ( and you save $$$)

The place was a definate for us. However we picked a Sunday for financial reasons we are saving over $5,000.

I am another person who chose place over time, but my reason was financial also. I could never have afforded a Saturday night wedding at the place of my dreams -- so instead I had it on a Sunday afternoon. (The cost savings was about 40%!!!!) In the end, it ended up being perfect. It was very convenient for guests who lived 2-3 hours away and didn't need to stay overnight as a result, the room was full of windows which was just gorgeous on a sunny afternoon, I didn't go into debt, and I could hold my wedding at the place I loved far above any other! :o) In the end, I think that what is more important is whatever YOU care about more. There isn't a right answer here!!!

I would honestly say the place would be more important to me although I personally prefer evening weddings.

Saturday nights are ideal BUT its the PLACE that your guests are going to remember.

It sounds like you have your heart set on a particular place. I know that Saturday nights are hard to find, especially for next year, so go with either a Saturday afternoon or Sunday wedding. You will remember the place more than the day of the week your wedding was held. Besides, you can always have an afterhours party or rehearsal dinner at a hotel bar or some other place where you may be much more relaxed if you want something to do on a Saturday night. Good luck!

I had the same situation. I had my heart set on a place and they had no saturdays for summer '03. I ended up going with Thursday, July 3rd after MUCH deliberation. To me, the place was just more important than the day of the week.

THE PLACE! Most of your memories will be of your reception and where you are. The night wont matter once you are married and dancing!

If you want the place, then you can have your wedding on a Friday night or Sunday. Go with the place. It's what you will remember the most and spend the most amount of money on.

I think the place matters the most. My wedding will be on a Sunday night. As a guest, I can't say it ever mattered that much on what day the wedding was held. The place itself is what stays in your mind.

I went with Sunday night because I am Greek and Greek weddings are almost always on a Sunday. For me getting the place I liked was most important. I originally wanted to get married at the Glen Island Harbour Club, but unfortunately the date was not avail. But it was actually a blessing in disguise because I ended up booking at the North Ritz Club and I could not be happier!!! and I'll be the only bride

this is a very personal decision...

When we first started looking at halls...I thought sat night was most important...I called every hall and if they didn't have sat nights avail...I didn't consider them...

but then when I saw my hall I knew I wanted it there...but the minimum for sat night was too high...plus we found a date to us that had a very special meaning and it happened to be a sunday...

this is when I opted for a sunday afternoon (b/c I didn't want people to leave early on a sun night...b/c they had to work the next day)

when I look back at it..I wouldn't do it any other way...I loved my hall and we were on the water...and in the night it just wouldn't be appreciated...my entire theme began to revolve around having a daytime wedding...I am now a little disappointed when I go to night weddings (but I guess I am now biased)

I also love that our wedding date has a special meaning...

so the moral is...you'll make the decision that is right for you...and you will be very happy that you made whatever decision you happen to make

Book it where you want it.Who cares about the day its on .You will have a good time no matter what day it is on.You will save money too.

I agree with Debbus. . .no matter when you have it, the important people will be there. . .Originally we wanted Sat night but picked a Friday Night because it was $25 cheaper than Saturday night People can use it as an excuse to make it a long weekend! After going to a wedding on a Thursday morning in Disney (missed 3 days of work) A friday night wedding is no big deal!!!!

I would say the place too. If you got married during a holiday weekend (Memorial Day, July 4th, etc), a Friday night could in essence be treated just like a Saturday night... I think if your heart is set on a place, go there regardless of what day of the week it is. And from what the others have posted, it seems like Friday night weddings are cheaper at most halls, so you could also save yourself some bucks... Good luck, it really depends on what you want to do more...

For us it was the place. We chose Sat during the day to enjoy the view. (John Anthonys) At night it would be looking out into darkness!
