~The Ultimate Fitness Thread~

Okay, this is for all of us that pigged out this weekend!

Since we all agreed that we have all had a little too much to eat and drink during the weekend BBQ's- let's help eachother get motivated to get back on track! What will you do this week to erase all the bad eating you did this past weekend?

Re: The Ultimate Fitness Thread

I'll start off. I go to Dolphin Fitness in Westbury. They do have several classes. I know they have kickboxing, spinning, yoga. I have been a member for about a year and a half now. I do cardio for up to a half hour on the elliptical and weight train. I also work out abs twice a week. Since 2005, I have lost almost 50 pounds. I have been the same weight now since the summer. I am trying to maintain my weight for the wedding. Maintaining is more challenging than weightloss I think!!!! I eat mainly a high protein diet and the only carbs I have are fruits, veggies, and whole grain, high fiber breads and cereals. I really love to work out and what helps me get into the mode is my iPod.

Congrats on losing so much weight! I've tried to get on diets but I just have a hard time sticking to one. I love food--lol
I don't have too much weight too lose but it's still a struggle!

Thanks! I used to try all the diets out there. I learned that you can't think of it as a diet but as a way of life. Just a way to be healthy and learned to enjoy it. Everyone is different though and people tend to find something that works best for them. Have you tried Weight Watchers? My Mother lost about 50 pounds on that and it taught her how to proportionize food as well as eating right.

FH and I just joined Planet Fitness which opened about 5 minutes from our apartment (Sunrise Hwy in Bay Shore). It's only $10 a month with no commitment. They don't have any classes, but I am not really into taking those anyway. My workout has really been kicking my butt the last few mornings. We are going to try and stay on track to go 5 days per week, plus I take a 2 hour ballet class once a week in Baldwin.

Congratulations flairforfashion, that is awesome. ANd hey we are getting married the same day. I like you idea for this post I think that is a great way for everyone to get motivated.

I want to loose 10lbs for my wedding. I work out every week day morning on my Gazelle for about 30min and now I joined the Inner Spirit Yoga Center and I love it. I never did yoga, so I take the beginners classes. And I can feel my arms and legs building muscles already. My clothes are fitting better, so I am very happy so far.

This is a great way to keep each other motivated! I go to the gym at my school since its free They have so many classes, but I take a class called Body Shop. Its basically weight training twice a week for 45 minutes. I also do 40 min of cardio usually on the elliptical 3 times a week and play on a soccer team on the weekend. I would like to lose 5 lbs by this summer then maintain from there. FH has a little further to go than me, he wants to lose around 40 lbs, but definitely needs to change his diet if he's serious!

Thank you Ladies!!!! This is a great thread!!! I have been such a bum lately, with all the wedding planning and seeing vendors at night it's so hard to workout!! This has definitely motivated me to get back to it!! I bought that Winsor Pilates set about a year ago and I loved it!! I just stopped doing it, but I'm going to start again. I'ts a lot of fun and it really works!! I don't really need to lose any weight, it's just about toning.

GREAT IDEA for this thread!
I go to World Fitness in Rego Park. They have A LOT of classes. I havn't taken any yet but will try some this week. Classes include: Spinning; Pilates; Dance; Boxing; Jump Rope; Belly Dance; Yoga; Step and a few others. I pay $50 a month. I want to lose as much weight as I possibly can in the next year. At least go back to the size I was when FH and i started dating.

I go to World Gym in Coram. I do 40 mins of cardio and about 40 mins of weight training every time I go. Which isn't alot because I go to school 3 days a week and I live out in Deer Park. I've been on Weight Watchers since 2005 and I have lost and gained the same 70 pounds over and over again. My weight loss has seemed to have slowed way down and I'm not quite sure why. I follow Weight Watchers to a tee and I work out about 3 days a week yet I only lost 5 pounds this month. I would like to lost 50 pounds by my wedding, I think it's totally doable, but, at what cost? LOL

I go to Meadows Spa and Fitness in Fresh Meadows. It's a womens gym that has machines and classes. They have really inexpensive personal trainers so I get trained once a week and try to do weight training by myself two other times. I aim to go to the gym five times each week, sometimes its more, sometimes less.

Yesterday when I tried on my eparty dress, fh said i was getting muscles so I'm excited!

We also were going to WW but decided to stop going to the meetings but do it at home.

I used to go to that gym!!! If andrea is still there, take her step class. She works in Lucille Roberts on Bell and she's always so motivating.

I go to the gym before work, it is soooo hard to stick to it in the winter because it is sooo cold. But I love getting it over with before work. And I haven't gone in weeks I have been sick for the longest tiem now.

Re: The Ultimate Fitness Thread *Update*

For me I am aiming to loss 5-10 lbs. I know it may not sound like alot but, it is hard to get off!!! I had lost 80 lbs in all 9 yrs ago and 3 yrs ago put alittle back on but, when you hit our 30's it is more of a strugle, plus being less active. I also cant go to the gym and do the classes that I used to since 3 yrs ago I found out I have arthritis,sp, in my spine and a problem with my neck/shoulder. When I strain myself or do REAL physical stuff it becomes too painfully for me and stays for days.

So I am doing WW and going on my treadmill 3-4 times a week.
