Hi ladies...I got married on Friday at Westbury...amazing!!! Everyone was raving about it. The bridal attendant and the maitre'd were excellent.

Congrats! I can't wait to see the pictures!

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

Did you girls read Erin and Peter's review? It made me soooooooo excited! I just went to a wedding at the Woodbury Country Club. Once you're engaged, you notice every little thing. The wedding was really good, but there were some things that I was thinking may be better at Westbury. I can't wait for my wedding.

I am now struggling looking for a wedding dress. Anyone else having this problem?

I'm getting Married Nov. 2005....I can't even think about a wedding dress until this winter. I have some ideas, and took pictures out of bride mags, but I probably won't start trying on until this winter. Did you try any on yet?

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

I know this topic has been talked about quite frequently on this thread. However I have a question re: cocktail hour rooms, when you have the manor room.

My question is, If you have 200 people at your reception, how in the world does the Library and Garden Room (if that is the name of the glassed room) fit everyone comfortably. I've been to some weddings where there was a larger area for cocktail hour and still a line for the food. What do you think.

Also, Does anyone know if Westbury manor is fexible with having an outside cocktail hour in the fall if it turns out to be a nice day?

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

I don't know about the rooms. They seemed pretty confident that they could hold everybody. Also, not everybody sits during a cocktail hour, so maybe the assume that is stand up room. I don't know.

As far as dresses, I am not getting married until July 2005. It was my mom who was eager to start shopping. I was reluctant for a while saying what if I found the dress, what am I going to do with it so early. Well, it is a struggle with me because I am so picky. Dresses have looked good, but I haven't felt that 'this is it' feeling people have claimed to have. I think it's going to take several months to find. In addition to finding it, I also want to research prices. In my opinion, a year in advance is good. I still have 1 year and 3 months left, but I will need the time.

If you know any good dress places when you start looking, let me know.

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

I went with my friend to David's Bridal back in Feb. She tried on so many dresses and then finally picked one. I would say try their to get an idea of what dress fits the best and how it looks...then you can go from there. You don't have to buy your dress from there...but if you have a friend go with you, then you could try on so many in the hour you have the room for and in so many different styles.

the reason the people will fit is because there is no dancing during the cocktail hour, and like someone else said, not everyone sits, or sits at the same time, etc. Imagine the manor room with the dancefloor removed and you now have a room the size of the garden room/library. besides, the garden room can hold like 160 something (max) for a reception.

I say the garden room, but I'm not even sure if that is the name of it..I haven't looked at my contract in awhile. Is it called the sunroom? The room is connected to the Library.

Yes, the glass room which is connected to the library and looks out onto the driveway as you pull up is the conservatory. The garden room is the room across from the library. It faces out and looks at the fountain in the back. If you are in the Manor Room and not having the cocktail hour outside then it is in the garden room and library. If it is outside it is outdoors with use of the library also.

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

I'm in the manor room and our cocktail hour is in the conservatory and Library if its not outside.
I guess it depends on how many functions going on or something.

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

Good luck with all the last minute stuff - Tracyg!!

I guess it depends on the day or number of people or something in regards to the rooms for the cocktail hour. Don't mean to confuse anyone. I just typed what my contract says!
