Woman I work with just walked up to me and told me 'Honey....I know you're thin, but now you're wasting away' I was like 'huh, this is me - I've always been thin - havent lost weight' She was like 'oh, I guess I never really looked..' blah blah - you could tell she felt uncomfy I shook it off, and laughed a little but not too much
I dont understand how ppl would NEVER dare to tell someone they're TOO FAT, but ppl would NOT hesitate to say they're TOO THIN!

Is she overweight?? I used to HATE that. Growing up I was rail thin and people would comment on it. People need to mind their own business.

Yes I do think its offensive... Like you said why is it ok to tell you are too skinny. You would never tell someone they are too fat

Re: Would you be offended?
people are just rude they say people gain weight or they are fading away. People need to keep comments to themselves if they have nothing nice to say they shouldn't say anything at all

well I'm chunky- so I'd be thrilled, but my sister is very thin & petite and I know she gets a lot of stupid comments & its is very rude.

Yeah, she's definitely on the chubby side - but that's besides the point -
I've been rail thin since the age of 3 years old, lol...my step dad called me 'bony marony'

why would she say something like that to you? Is she over weight? Because if she is she may be just a bit jealous there....

I dont think its besides the point!!! She's probably bitter that youre so thin. Im a thin girl and I dont feel the need to tell other thin girls that theyre wasting away!
As far as what she said, I do feel its offensive because of the way she said it. I dont think anyone should ever comment on anyones weight whether theyre skinny or fat. Same way you should never ask someone if theyre pregnant!

Re: Would you be offended?
I am normal weight now but when I was in my early 20s I was thin (100% healthy but 5'11'' and thin).
Girls I went to school with approached me about being too thin and how they felt I may be sick (HELLO - they were all on AKINS at the time lossing way too many pounds a week and was eating beef, fish, salads, fruits, chips - everything other than fast food which I do not like).
I can totally relate!
I think it is hard for some people to understand that someone can be thin and healthy. As I have gotten older (pretty much after 25) some pounds have def. packed on.
I think people should refraun from accusing others of bad eating - whether it is b/c they think you are too fat or too thin - everyone's body is different and reacts differently!

Re: Would you be offended?
That was rude of her regardles of what she looks like.
You get comments whether you're fat or thin. I'm fat and I've had people comment on either me losing weight or gaining weight or on what I'm eating in terms of dieting.
Peoplewho make comments like that are just rude and unhappy with themselve whether they thin, fat, etc.

Re: Would you be offended?
I think the problem is that most people dont think saying 'you are too thin' is negative vs. You are so fat. If someone were to tell me I was too thin I would jump up and down and hug them! But I can see where it would bother you. I dont think that was her intention though

Re: Would you be offended?
There is definitely a double standard for thin people, but there's not much you can do about it now, if she comes back to you with an offensive comment you have to be prepared with a response at that time...but going back to her now and saying something would seem like you're being petty (even though you have every reason to!)

You are right...people would nevery say you're to fat. It is annoying...someone told me I was withering away last year. Its uncomfortable.

Re: Would you be offended?
I got this recently from a person at my office and it is really uncomfortable b/c then you feel like you have to defend yourself so people don't think you have an eating disorder. I have lost a bit b/c I lose my appetite from being stressed but just as someone who may have gained, i'm not necessarily happy w/ the change (neither will FH be when he gets back). Why do people think that saying how you're wasting away is any better than saying 'Whoa, you've put on a couple'?

Re: Would you be offended?
When I was thin and someone would say you are wasting away it did not offend me , BUT i have been heavy and thin so i guess it did not bother me because i was trying to waste away
NO ONE should comment on another persons body unless it is ' you look good' !

Re: Would you be offended?
i notice that people try to make me feel bad for being thin - but i love being my size - yeah im really thin - and i only weigh 90 something lbs - but i still got some curves - my waist is a 23 and my hips are a 33 - so i got some shape going on in the butt and thighs the only thing i dont like is shopping for clothes! i do think a lot of the time (not always) when people make comments like 'too thin' its so that they can make themselves feel better - like it makes it easier for them to cope - they try to find negatives in being thin so they can feel positive about not being thin - get what im saying? i truly believe that some (once again, not all) people who make comments feel that way.....unless its a compliment any other comments about weight i find tacky
