Re: Brentwood Country Club BRIDES
I went to the florest yesturday, I upgrdes the roses to 1 1/2 dozen roses instead of what they include. It wasn't to bad, they were really good with me having a difficult time making decisons. We picked out the tux's on friday, I think we did a good job with that.
And yesturday we also picked out our wedding bands.
Attempted to pick out a cake, I am giving up I have no idea what I want.
It does feel good to have more things checked off.
Hope everyone is staying dry today...

Re: Brentwood Country Club BRIDES
The roses cost $25 for a dozen and a half. I think it is $15 for one dozen. How is everyone doing? I finally found a veil at the tri-country flea-market and a flower girl dress.
I still have to meet with the photo and the video. Has anyone done that yet? If so how did it go?
I called the Brentwood COuntry club and spoke to scott about the fantacy package. I think I am just going to add a few more chaffing dishes instead of the whole package.

Hey everyone....another Brentwood Country Club Bride here!Has anyone either met with or heard the DJ?
I went to the DJ's office and was not impressed with how they run their business at all...My fiance and I are actually thinking about getting a different DJ....
Just curious what everyone else thought, not sure if it was just a bad day for them or what, but as of now don't think I could use them.....

We met with the photographer about 2 weeks ago...they seemed very nice. When you go in, be prepared to talk about what you can upgrade too. Some things they need to know before the wedding but some can wait till after...Let me know how the videographer goes...I still have to make that appointment...

Who will be taking photographs the day of your wedding? Anyone I should stay clear of? FH and I are meeting with Scott on Wednesday to get our invites and finalize the menu. I can't believe it's less than 6 months away!!! Time is flying!

I've actually heard good things about the new DJ company through this thread and a few others. I still haven't met them personally, but I have spoken with them through e-mail and have been cooperative through that communication.

Re: Brentwood Country Club BRIDES
The photographer upgrades....Well he had told us that some things he needs to know about now, and some can wait until after the wedding...
As far as what he has to know before the wedding is:
1. If you want black and white shots, it's $75.00 per roll of 10 pictures. He said that after the wedding that they can turn shots into black and white shots digitally, however by having them shoot an actual roll of black and white film, you will have the proofs in black and white.
2. For $50 (i think) they can put your proofs in an album for you with the ordering pages separating every page. Otherwise you get your proofs in a stack.
3. There were other things that you can have them do with the shots after the wedding that you can upgrade for.
Over all there's a million things that you can upgrade to. However our package seems to include many, many things which is nice, so you may not need to upgrade at all...

I have no info on the video - although when we met him at the expo - he had a wedding video with our priest in it - so we know he's familiar with our church!! I'll be making appointments with all the vendors within the next few weeks - so I'll have better updates then!

Re: Brentwood Country Club BRIDES
So, FH and I went to BCC last night to start the wedding planning!! I was so excited when we left - it actually feels like we're planning a wedding now and it feels so real now!!! The countdown is really starting!!!My only disappointment - the fondue fountain - they're checking with Sami to see if it can be available the entire reception, but they said they only (normally) do it the last hour. I asked because my parents won't help pay for it if it's only out for an hour!! GGGRRR!!
How is everything going for the rest of you?!

How long do you want the fountain out for? I had it at my engagement party when desert was served and it was a hit. Everyone seemed to enjoy it.Any reason why your parents want it out the whole time. The BCC said it was around $4 a person.

My cousin had it at her Sept wedding and the fountain was out for the 4 hour reception, so my parents weren't thrilled with the idea of having it for an hour. However, BCC (Steve) called us back Thursday and said we could have it the entire time for a few dollars more pp. I spoke with my parents that night to review everything we went over with Steve the night before and they said they'd be willing to now have it for just the one hour! Can I just say my parents' can be confusing!!!!

Re: Brentwood Country Club BRIDES
Hey BCC Brides. I went to a wedding last night at the BCC and I wanted to give you guys a review from my perspective. Hope it helps! FM if you have any questions. By the way, please keep in perspective that I am an upcoming Bride to Be so I was looking at things from a different perspective than I am sure many other guests were.Ok so first off, lemme say that our friends went with the Basic Package. They didnt do any upgrades that I could tell besides adding on about 15 guests (total 115 people). They used all the house vendors and when asked about it at the end of the night they bragged about how easy it was to deal with the BCC and thier vendors. They seemed extremely pleased with how thier wedding turned out.
The house DJ (Xtreme Sounds or something similar to that) I give them an A-. The only reason I gave them an A- is because the cocktail hour music was really droll and boring (not my personal taste). The reception was awesome though. The main MC- (blonde guy- didnt get his name) was very energetic. He was really able to pump up the group and encourage many people on the dancefloor. Towards the end of the night he was even dancing with us and let us have the microphone to sing for about 3 songs. The music was very divisified from Top 40 to Motown and people of all ages were up on the dancefloor. The only complaint I heard (direct from the brides mother) was that the speakers closest to the dancefloor were extremely loud and some of the older guests were complaining about how loud the music was. Most of the older guests were seated away from the dancefloor though and all of us twenty and thirty somethings were having a great time. My only suggestion would be to place the older guests as far from the speakers as possible.
The house Photographer (dont know their name either, sorry): C+ The reason I am giving the photographer a C+ is because she was (in my opinion) kinda lazy and mean. It was a 40 something woman with crazy long brown hair. I frequently saw her sitting down (which is why i say she was lazy) and I didnt see her taking an overabundance of pictures (especially of fun shots like the bride and groom getting down on the dancefloor). She really only appeared for the basic shots- entrance, cake cutting, father/daughter, mother/son dance. Otherwise she seemed MIA. Also, and this is a big NO NO in my opinion, we were up by the bar with the groom and we were all taking a shot in honor of him. We were waiting for the bartender to pour the shots and the photographer comes around the corner and snaps at the groom that he is needed for a family picture. He says, 'ok just give me one second and I will be right there', and I swear to god she snapped right back 'ok, one, now come!' I wanted to smack her in the face right then and there! Total B-i-t-c-h! Please beware of this woman.
House videographer (dont know the name) B+: The videographer definately captured way more of the wedding than the photographer (or at least it seemed) . The only reason I gave him a B+ is because he was in everyones face and kept trying to make us all talk on camera. Also, he had the most humogous tripod which was constantly taking up space on the dancefloor and also had the largest, most obtrusive light that was glowing off the camera and blinding everyone. Otherwise though, they seemed like they captured all the best moments of the wedding and I am SURE my friends will be happy with the end product.
The florist (again, dont know who it was): A- They got high centerpieces with soft pink and cream roses. They looked very nice in the room and added a flair to each table. They had 4 votives around the bottom which helped enhance the look of the centerpiece. The flowers on all bouquets and centerpieces were very fresh. The only thing I would suggest is that if you are having a night wedding, go with more color for your flowers and add some more candlelight. The flowers definately would have popped more if they didnt blend with the wall color and the 4 votives didnt seem like enough lighting. I would say at least 6 votives per table would have been better.
The cocktail hour B: The cocktail hour was Ok. As I said, my friends had the basic package, so they had the basic cocktail hour. Not a lot of food options- Pasta bar (2 options), Cheese tray, Antipasto/veggies/cold pasta salads, and a table with 2 chicken options and calamari. The Best- the Calamari was awesome! I really enjoyed the pasta bar also- very tasty Penne a la vodka! Also the cold pasta salad were very delicious. The Worst- the Chicken Marsala- This was terrible. The chicken was impossible to cut through. They only offered you forks and without a serious sharp knife, there was no way i was getting a piece of this chicken in my mouth because it was way to big and very tough. I didnt bother with the other chicken option as this scared me off from the rest of that table.
The reception: A- First off, lemme say how annoying it was that they shove all the guests into the hallway between cocktail hour and reception. Its so cramped and lots of people were getting anxious. However, they did a good job converting the room in a very short amount of time. I was impressed that it only took about 5 minutes to convert the room from cocktail to reception. So they get bonus points for speed. They also get bonus points for dinner- which everyone was RAVING about. Me and FH had the Prime Rib with potatoes and asparagus. The rest of our table got the Chicken Madiera with potatoes and broccoli. There was a third option of Sea Bass, but i didnt see anyone at our table or the table next to us order this. The Prime Rib was delicious! Perfectly tender and savory! The potatoes and asparagus were also very delicious and cooked to perfection. Our friends were so excited about the Chicken that one of our guy friends ate the rest of his wife's chicken because he loved it so much. Also, one of my female freinds loved her chicken so much, she wouldnt stop raving about it to the bride. She kept saying she never eats the food at weddings and she ate every last bite there.
The opening appetizer was pinapple with strawberries that looked very unappealing and not one person at our table even took a bite. It may have been good, but the presentation made it look gross. There was also ceaser salad that I wound up missing, but i saw a lot of people eating it and enjoying it and I was pretty sad that i missed out. The cake was also fantastic, they had a three tiered white cake with strawberry filling served with vanilla ice cream. I didnt personally like the way the cake looked- it was pretty basic white with some florally wrapped design also in white. very boring in my opinion (very 1970's looking) However this cake tasted AWESOME and i forgot all about the look of it once i tasted it. It was my favorite part of the whole meal and i even dipped into FH cake when he wasnt looking!
Overall service at the BCC A-: Our waiter was very nice. Got all our orders correct and offered to bring us drinks. He did spill crumbs all over me, but was very apologetic and I really didnt care at all since he was such a sweetheart. Food was delivered quickly and the servers and the entire staff seems to be extremely efficient. When dinner was served, they had the plates covered at the table. I was in the bathroom when they served dinner and even though all the other people at my table were eating already, my food was covered and kept hot. When I came back to the table, just as soon as I got my butt on my seat a woman came over to take the cover off my food so that I could begin to eat. This was very unexpected and very nice!
We kept the bartender busy (we are a big drinking crowd) We ordered a lot of shots and eventually the bartender ran out of shotglasses- NO biggie- However we were dropping tons of cash to this bartender and he seemed really annoyed everytime we came by. We were ordering the same shot every time (8-10 shots each visit) and each time he looked annoyed and slowly made each one. The groom made a comment at some point that the bartender was really slow and had a bad attitude and it would make more sense for him to have the drinks pre-mixed, but nobody cared enough to complain to the bartender and he really didnt seem like he would have taken our comments with anything but a bad attitude anyways.
Overall we had a really great time. The BCC is a lovely place to have a wedding and even with the basic package you can have a really nice, well catered affair. Good luck to all you girls. I hope this helps some of you!
