I just want to say I'm so jealous of all your brides who have yet to go to Tahiti. My DH and I had a fantastic time and we keep talking about going back!

Hi, girls! I put together a long honeymoon review for French Polynesia and attached it to my wedding review. You can get it here:

In addition, some tips about going to French Polynesia:

* Everything is expensive in French Polynesia, so be prepared. For example, just a regular breakfast buffet at a hotel can cost $35/person, and a dinner at a restaurant can cost $100/person easy if you have wine. Tips are not customary, although some of the places did try to get tips out of Americans.

* Try to find places that offer free transportation. There are always restaurants and stores that offer free transportation so you don't have to pay for cabs.

* If you go see a Tahitian dance show, all the dancers pull out people from the audience near the end. In addition, they will take pictures with people at the end of the show, too.

* Poisson cru is amazing! You should definitely try it.

* Most hotels there offer free snorkels and kayaks.

* We found that a lot of people were habitually late - 'island time' and all. Make sure you leave extra time, especially if you're going to the airport.

I agree - it highly depends on the hotels, what types of room you get (e.g., overwater bungalows v. garden room), how much are you going to spend on food when you're there, which islands you visit, etc. If you're interested, it might be a good idea to talk to some travel agents and see what kinds of packages they offer you. You can also go online and just do some preliminary research. Unfortunately we use reward points for most of our trip, like for airline tickets and hotels, so I can't tell you exactly how much ours cost if we had to pay for everything.

By the way....have we discussed (I can't remember) the fact that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were just at Le Taha'a!!! I'm staying there...it was very cool seeing it in all the mags and telling people I'm honeymooning there! They did an OWB there...I'm doing beach villa there b/c I heard they are better.
