everything at Bloody Mary's sounds good, I cannot wait to go there.
I have another question for you ladies, are any of you planning on getting any shots before you go? I'm kind of paranoid that it is a different country and all, do you think we should get like a hepatitis shot or something like that?
114 days until i get leid!
None of the guide books say to get any immunizations, so no.

i want to try poisson cru, too! but i'll try it on the last day, in case of food poisoning. i am alittle paranoid about those things.![]()
But what if you end up loving it and want to eat it every day???![]()
I'll try it mid-trip. I have a stomach of steel!
Do any of you plan to go to Bloody Mary's? If you do someone has to do me a favor and ask them for me if they are closed in December? I heard they close that entire month. I will be there then![]()
I will be sad if I miss it. I arrive in Bora Bora on the last day of November....so maybe I can go my first night there!
Anyway on the show I saw - the chef at Bloody Mary's showed how he makes his most famous dish. That too looked delicious - I'd love to try it. If you like calamari - it was calamari pounded and flattened so it was like a cutlet. I think they called it a clamari steak - it was breaded and had a butter, caper, garlic sauce poured on top. Looked so good.
Hmmm the calamari steak sounds yummy...
I think if it says Tahitian Welcome or greeting that means you get leid, which is for everyone msot likely!!!
Hear Hear to getting Leid in Tahiti!!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!
I believe we'll neeed to be at the airport at least an hour b-4 departure for the interisland flights. Here's more detailed info:Q : When should I arrive for check-in ?
A : Check-in at the airport begins 1 hour before the scheduled departure time with the exception of island of Manihi where it begins 1 hour and 50 minutes before. Check-in closes 20 minutes before departure. If you do not present yourself before this limit, AIR TAHITI will proceed with the flight close-out and will free up your seat. Passenger boarding begins 10 minutes prior to departure time. You should arrive at the airport early enough to leave sufficient time for check-in and passing through the security inspections.
Also, here's info on baggages for interisland flights:
Q : Baggage allowance
A : In cabin : 1 piece with dim. not exceeding 45 x 35 x 20 cm ( 17” x 13” x 7” ) and weight under 3 kg (6.6lbs).
In the luggage hold : Baggage allowance of 10 kg (22lbs) with dim. (length + width + height) not exceeding 150 cm ( 59” ) for each piece.
Free baggage allowance of 20kg (44lbs) is granted to tourists (passengers reserved in Y class).
Add'l free baggage allowance of 5 kg (11lbs) is granted to scuba divers upon presentation of their diver’s card at the check-in counter.
Good luck packing!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!
Regarding the baggage allowance nonsense-- how different is that from when you fly on a regular plane? Can you imagine my bag was like 50 pounds and they wouldnt let me on the plane, then what?Did any of you girls have trouble with this? Please let me know..
Thanks.

The inter island planes are smaller than the Air Bus planes that are used for the international flights, so they can't hold as much. I believe they charge you if your luggage is a little over the limit.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!
I'm kind of used to it, the flights to the Philippines are about 18 hours. I love flying, though. I bring a lot of stuff to read.I thought of taking a sleeping pill, but it would screw up the timing. We get to Papeete at about midnight so I wuld n't be able to sleep when we got there.
I read on the Tahiti Explorer forum that Coach on ATN is pretty nice compared to other airlines, too.

We flew through LA since the direct flight started after our honeymoon. It was nice to have it split up to stretch our legs on ground but I would have preferred a direct flight on Air Tahiti Nui if given the chance. The coach section is pretty big with lots of leg room. They give you a nice little kit too with a mask, ear plugs, socks and head phones. Also, the food is actually pretty good! They give you menus to choose from.

I flew 14 hours non stop to Tokyo from NY. It really is not that bad. The plane is usually bigger than your average jet. My plane had extra leg room - even in coach. Every seat had it's own T.V. screen with several channels, and we kept getting snacks and food through out the flight. Obviously I did not fly ATN, but I can only assume that the plane and in flight treatment will be similar.
I would suggest that you pack some entertainment with you. We packed cards, travel yatzee, travel scrabble, books, magazines and music. HTH.
If all else fails Tylenol PM or some alcoholic drinks help too

There was enough leg room for me to stretch a little bit right in the seat area. I'm 5'6' if you are taller you might not be able to do that.
I got up a couple of times, but I really did not find the flight that bad. The larger seats and individual TVs made a world of difference.

ATN Coach:
Serving 264 passengers, Moana Class service is customized to add comfort and enjoyment over our long-haul route network. The eight-abreast seating layout with the popular 2-4-2 arrangement meets the seating requests of our couple- and family-oriented passengers. Our aircraft design allows for extra overhead carry-on luggage capacity thereby creating more comfort through less need for under-seat storage. The most popular feature of our Coach Class is the personal video system now on most of our aircraft. Every passenger enjoys their own adjustable video screen with enough first-run movies and interactive games to quickly pass the time on every flight.
