Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!
Hi guys,Anyone who stays at the Moorea Pearl, or Bora Bora Thalasso will NOT be dissapointed. ESPECIALLY the Thalasso. So romantic, all brand new, just HEAVEN!
The food is very expensive, so bring snacks! Everyone should bring liquor with them if they are drinkers :)
We miss it!!!!!!!!!! here are some pics for you........I have a review of the Pearl from Trip Advisor here:
We stayed in a Garden Bungalow w/Private Pool, from Sept 5-10th, 2006, as a start of our honeymoon (with one night in Papeete). #215. We loved the private plunge pool, although it was cold the first few days because it was cloudy out. It was VERY private and secluded. Lots of birds, plants, and palm trees to keep you company. The staff was so friendly, and greeted you each night w/fresh towels and gardenias (tiares) to wear in your ear. The Beds were very comfy. The drinks and food were very expensive. Luckily, we brought our own liquor. The seafood buffet for about ($80pp usd) was NOT worth the $. THe lobster was Cold, and the prawns still had their shells/heads on. The breakfast buffet is $25/pp. Pretty crazy.
The GREAT thing about the Pearl was that it is in a PRIMO location for walking 5 minutes down the road to Carmeline's for breakfast ($10pp) and to the market to get sodas, and Hinanos and fruit drinks to mix w/our liquor! Couldnt get a better location for that! No other hotels come close to that market area.
They had a firedancers on Tuesday, and a Polynesian dance show on Wednesday and Saturday ( i think), definitely nice & fun to watch.
All in all, its a great place to stay, and I recommend it highly.
Thalasso review is just: A+++++++. Loved EVERYTHING, except prices of drinks/food. Oh, and that there are no fishies because there is no coral (when they did construction they cleared out the coral)

I can give you insight to Moorea Pearl.. the Hotel was very nice and I only hung out at the pool. You can check out pics and review of Tahiti on this board.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!
From what i heard the Sofitel in Moorea is under renovation and is suppose to re-open in November 2006. Supposedly they are redo everything.I guess one advantage to the Moorea Sofitel would be that everything will be new. Someone also told me that the Sofitel is the only hotel which is on a natural beach on Moorea...all the other ones are man made (not sure if that is true or if it is better).
I was thinking about staying at the Pearl Moorea but one travel agent convince me that the beach bungalows at the Sofitel will be much better.
I heard good things about the Pearl Bora Bora and will probably be stayng there.
