KATHY Griffin decided it was time to split from her husband, Matt Moline, when she discovered he'd been stealing her money. She told Larry King during a recent taping, 'My ex-husband, without my knowledge, was sneaking into my wallet when I was asleep in the mornings and taking my ATM cards from my private accounts and withdrawing money . . . That money totalled $72,000.' The segment was to have run the other day but was bumped by the North Korea missile threat and will be rescheduled.

Martha's Vineyard was buzzing over the weekend with the rumor that Def Jam president Jay-Z and longtime girlfriend Beyoncé were holed up in Chappaquiddick for a holiday weekend wedding - their own. A Lowdown spy on the island reports: 'Word is that they were trying to rent out a huge house on Chappy for the festivities. Everyone was talking about it.' But it seems Jay-Z and Beyoncé didn't tie the knot. Jana Fleischman, spokeswoman for Def Jam, told Lowdown: 'They were there, but they didn't get married.' However, Fleischman refused to comment on whether a wedding had been in the works.

Jessica's parents Joe and Tina squared off over whether to pull the plug on a sex-sational photo shoot of their shapely daughter. Mom won the battle.

'It shows who really wears the pants in the Simpson family,' a source told The ENQUIRER.

'Joe was all for the art director and photographer's vision of Jessica appearing in a classic layout once done by Kate Moss years ago.

'It called for a very sultry, pouting Jessica to face the camera appearing in very tight short-shorts and bra. Standing behind her was a hunky shirtless model posed to look as if he were pulling on his pants. He wasn't baring anything, but it was pretty damn suggestive.

'But just when the model started unbuttoning his pants for the photographer to begin snapping, Tina blurted out: 'Time out! Hold it! Nope. This isn't going to work.'

'Tina said the pose was too risque and made Jessica look slutty. Joe was perplexed. He saw the setup in advance and had no problem. But when he tried to persuade Tina to change her mind, she'd have none of it.

'Tina dug in her heels and said there was no way she'd allow Jess to appear in the layout the way it was designed.

'She told Joe: 'I'm her mother. Trust me. This isn't the image we want.'

'All Joe could do was shrug. After a few minutes the shot was reconfigured. The eventual layout still featured Jessica and the shirtless hunk. But this time his pants remained on.'

'Tina got her way,' said the source, 'and showed Joe and everyone else who's the boss when it comes to Jess.'

Multimillionaire TV mogul Aaron Spelling died a heartbroken man. Friends of the legendary producer say that the last days of one of the wealthiest and most powerful people in Hollywood history were marred by family fighting.

And sadly, the 83-year-old producer's daughter Tori, 33 — who is estranged from her mother — was not at his bedside when he died on June 23 at his palatial California home.

'It's a true blessing to have had a parent that loved me unconditionally,' the actress said in a statement — perhaps a pointed jab at her mother Candy, to whom she is not speaking. Tori's mother and brother Randy, 27, released a separate statement after Aaron's death, which was a result of complications from a stroke he suffered five days earlier.

'For more than 40 years, Aaron Spelling supported this town,' said an insider. 'Everyone in Hollywood owes him.

'Yet the one thing he didn't have was the peace he wanted at home.

'His greatest wish was for a happy, loving family, and he didn't have that when he died. 'It killed him that he couldn't reunite Tori and Candy. 'For Tori not to be at Aaron's bedside when he passed away is sad proof of how deep the family rift goes.'

Kelly Clarkson has been ordered by advertising executives to slim down if she wants to front a new healthy drinks campaign.

The 'American Idol' winner has signed a contract to promote her favourite flavour of Vitamin Water but bosses at Glaceau, the company that manufactures the drink, feel she needs to lose some weight before they use her to advertise the beverage.

The drink claims to contain 50 percent of your daily vitamin requirements and is popular with athletes.

Kelly - who will promote Kiwi and Strawberry flavoured 'Focus' Vitamin Water - has been put on a strict all-organic diet and has even hired a professional chef to prepare all her meals while on her 'Addicted' tour.

The star previously revealed she joined forced with Glaceau to help encourage young people to make healthier choices.

She said: 'Why I love the Vitamin Water campaign is a lot of kids just down soda and it's not good.

'Obviously I have a lot of young fans, so that's why we teamed up. I just realized that I have a platform. If you have a voice, you might as well make it a positive one.'

Last year, 50 Cent endorsed his favourite flavour of Vitamin Water.

LOS ANGELES - Supermodel Christie Brinkley and her fourth husband, Peter Cooke, have separated, her publicist said Tuesday.

'Yes, it's true. The couple has separated,' publicist Elliot Mintz said in a statement.

Cooke and Brinkley married in 1996 and have a daughter.

Brinkley, 52, was previously married to Frenchman Jean-François Allaux, singer Billy Joel and developer Richard Taubman.

She and Joel have a daughter, and she and Taubman have a son.

'Her immediate concern is for her children, and she's hoping during this obviously difficult time that people will be kind enough to respect her privacy,' Mintz said.

Jessica Simpson has been tapped as cohost of the Teen Choice Awards, and she may have her work cut out for her at the Aug. 20 event. Not only is she a nominee, but so is her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, and his new squeeze, Vanessa Minnillo.

Simpson is nominated for choice movie breakout performance – for her role as Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard – as well as for choice red-carpet fashion icon and choice hottie. Meanwhile, Lachey is nominated in the male hottie category and Minnillo is up for choice TV personality.

Simpson and Lachey, who costarred in the MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, finalized their divorce on June 30 after three years of marriage. Recently, Lachey has been spotted spending time with Minnillo in New York and Los Angeles.

The eighth annual Teen Choice Awards, during which winners will be presented with surfboard awards, will air live on FOX (at 8 p.m. ET). Simpson's cohost will be announced at a later date, the network said Tuesday.

Voters can cast their ballots until Aug. 11 on the Web sites TeenPeople.com, MySpace.com, Ign.com and Fox.com.

Up next for Simpson, 26, is a starring role in the comedy Employee of the Month, which opens Sept. 15. Her new album, A Public Affair, hits stores Aug. 29.

Lachey, 32, is scheduled to kick off his 'What's Left of Me' tour on Sept. 20 in Albany, N.Y.
