WOW!!! I can in a little late on this post!!!!!

I'm 100%, both my parents are literally off the boat!!! (yes thick accents, Sunday pasta dinners and plastic on the coach growing up )

Dad's from Sicily and mom is from small town near Naples, I'm actually going there for 2 weeks I'm leaving on the 6th!!!!

FH also 100%, mom is off the boat, father is 1st generation!!

welcome Donna and Congrats on your upcoming wedding! You made a great choice with Marina del Rey -basically everyone in my family has gotten married there including my parents 26 years ago. I visited the hall right after I got engaged and with the renovations I couldn't tell it was Marina del Rey. It looks AMAZING!

You're so lucky you're going to Italy soon - I wish I could stuff myself in the luggage lol What part of Sicily is your dad from? My parents are off the boat as well - my mom is from Palermo and my dad is from Ragusa.

well first of all:

i spied this thread a while ago but i wanted to get up to date on it before i chimed in, lol

my family is from Linguaglossa - which is a tiny itsy bitsy town on Mount Etna (Catania)

I am struggling to keep my wedding italian while pleasing my american FH ( he is italian and irish, but really american)

I am american too - so i hope no one gets offended by that - but i just mean NOT italian like my family!

I am going to Sicily in October for my parent's 40th - i cant wait, i am going to look at dresses although I probably wont buy one there!

this thread made me laugh hysterically (i cant believe so many people grew up like me, with all the great food, the white stockings ( remember the first time you got to wear 'grown up' stockings- the regular pantyhose? that was such a big deal to me!'

my mom has house slippers and i dont know how it happened but i only wear slippers in the house too!!!

I never leave the house without a jacket - even in august and all my friends wonder why i ALWAYS have tissues with me - my nonna's advice if it was your wedding day - your first day at work etc always have a tissue! you never know when your nose will run!

this thread also made me cry a little bit - miss my nonnas rolled down stockings, her slippers that hse cut the backs off of

i knew my FH was the one for me when nonna (not fully in her mind at this point) said ' who is that handsome boy - i hope he isnt related to us but if he is I know he is from MY side'

he he this is a great thread! cant wait to hear more!!

Holy crap.. how awesome was that game? I heard 18th Ave in Brooklyn was insane.. there were more people there on Tuesday then there are during the feast!!!
