20 days & a home!

hi there everyone- things have been very, very hectic for us this last week.Sorry I haven't been on the site... We went to closing on Mon 6/5 and my landlady wanted me out right away...even though she had my security payment...cuz she wanted to rent the apt right away. (loser- I was the only tenant she had & I treated the place like I OWNED it)

anyways- been working on 3 hours sleep for each day this past week. Finally moved out this SAT

Home is in Long Beach..nice 2 fam..now we are up to our ears in boxes!! haha! and that doesnt' include our shower gifts- still at the MIL house.

20 days & a home!

Wow Phyl! I know I just got an apartment a month ago and there are so many things that are still broken etc... I hope your new house is great! Long Beach is really nice and the perfect time of year to move there. I know we still have to do all those things you mentioned. Remember to take time to have a nice dinner and to go to movies. Let us know how everything is coming along and good luck!

i'm a graduate student and also work at suny stony brook. thanks for the advice. they are invited to the wedding so i'll put them on the shower invite list as well. thanks again karen! take care, leighann

Also, from being on here about 5-10 times a day before the wedding(it's an addiction I had), it's so hard to stay away.

20 days & a home!

phyl - dont get overwhelmed - I am the week after you (july 9) and still have to do alot. (marriage license/coordinate times w/ limo/photographer/video, seating arrangements/bridal party gifts/ trial makeup/final fitting/pick out readings etc. they will all get done - make a list and everytime you cross something off, you will feel much better!!

try to get some sleep - you don't want bags under your eyes for the big day!!! good luck

bags...sleep

Yep- I know what you mean. I tend to get dark circles too so I am trying my best to catch up on the lost hours sleep.

The pictures will be in Nassau.

bags...sleep

You can never really "catch up" on lost hours of sleep. But what you can do, going forward, is prioritize what you are doing in your waking time so you can try to get the proper amount of rest for the days leading up to your big day. I don't know what you do for a living, but can things at work be put on hold or delegated to a helpful coworker so you can leave work on time? can the unpacking in your new place (congrats by the way) wait until after the honeymoon? Also do as another bride here suggested and make a checklist so you can keep a clearer focus on what needs to be handled for the wedding day. Can your fiancee/friends help with any of it? When a person is tired/has the puffy eyes, it sometimes takes a few days of healthy rest to relieve it so try, try to take the opportunity now to start so you feel your best on the wedding day.

PS: Save this email for me when mine is coming around so I can recall my own advice.

trying to reassign tasks

yes, the big unpacking jobs can wait until august...but there are many things we need to unpack anyway- like dishes and pots and pans and towels- haha! and you can't really have anyone help you with that cuz u want them in places u would use.

I work in advertising- very high pressure...and a large deadline is looming- just need one buyer to finish her work so I can begin my project...so that is a bit dreadful.

I printed out my checklist from theknot.com and added the personal items I needed.

You are getting married in Oct. of 2000? You are probably on a mad dash to find a all. You may have great bargaining power on price though since it is so soon. You should call ahead to see what days they have available in Oct. I know that the Crescent Beach Club doesn't have any Sat. in Oct. And, that was when I looked last Nov.

wedding info

getting married 7/2 12 noon at Fox Hollow!! 16 days away!

Love Love Love Miller Place Inn. I got married there at the end of March. It is beautiful, one wedding at a time, GREAT food, and top notch service. I received so many compliments.

One reason I also really like and reccomend the place is because it does not have a typical catering hall feel. www.millerplaceinn.com It is kinda far east, however, east of Smithtown on the northshore.

20 days & a home!

actually i dont think they have saturdays youre right, i might do an afternoon there, i was gonna go see it today, but we were pooped after seeing a few places, so 'm noggna go next week...yeah we're in a mad dash since we just found a house, and closing in sept... where/when are you getting married ?

i was given this really cute idea by a friend of mine, since i told her i was sick of seeing the bouquet and garter thing...well at a wedding she saw where the DJ asked all MARRIED couples to get on the dance floor, and then the DJ said "those married for 5yrs or less, please be seated, 10 yrs or less please be seated.....etc etc etC" and then basically the couple thats been married the longest remains on the dance floor to dance with the newlyweds..the man with the bride and the lady with the groom..

i though that sounded SOOOOOO sweet, i'm definately doing it at my wedding...its great if you have grandparents that are still alive and kickin' !! God Bless them !
