The abc's of hair / makeup? I would like to know your suggestions, ideas, opinions regarding..............

Hi,
I just read the thread from sp04. I need to learn about that area and appreciate any help.

If you don't mind posting ,I would like to know how much things cost for various vendors:
-hair trial (only)
-makeup trial(only)
- trial of both togehter
-same 3 costs for actual wedding day

I would like to know what gorgeus faces charges, but also what are some prices of others in general .
If anyone has general input I would appreciate knowing what to expect from this area of vendors. What should i be aware of? what should I ask?how many styles should i try?

Does anyone have opinions as to if it's better to get seperate hair and makeup people, so each can 'concentrate/focus' on their specialty?

Also, on the wedding day, do they do the hair and makeup at hotel/home/caterer/ of your choice or is that something that needs to be worked out for additional$$$$.

Thanks as always

Right now I can only post about makeup. I am using Denise from Angel Eyes. She is wonderful. She charges $25 for a trail but if you book her on the spot, the trail is free. She will come to your house for your trail and will go to your house, hall, etc. the day of the wedding. She charges $90 for the bride for makeup and $55 for BM for makeup for that day. She charges $115 for airbrush for the bride and $75 for the BM, etc. for airbrush that day.

If you would like to see my trail pics, just let me know.

I think that if you see a style that works for you and you love it, then go with it. If you see someone who does an incredible job then go with it. use your first instinct. My first makeup trial was not that great. I did not like my eyes, they looked black. and the rest of my face looked pale. by my second makeup trial i was hoping this was the one and she completely was. As far as my hair, i only had one trial which was with the second makeup and i loved it right away.

i think you should try and stick with hair stylists and makeup artists that have worked together before. If you can't then that is okay, but if you can it is probably better since the people are comfortable working with one another and they probably have a system down pat. Just my opinion.

I think most trials will cost between 30 and 60 dollars. Hair maybe about the same maybe even a little more.

Most makeup and hair stylists will come to your home/hall/site wherever you are the day of the wedding.. they are usually very accommodating. I have found the prices to vary completely off the board.

Day of the wedding: I have found some makeup artists to charge between 50-100 dollars and for hair anywhere between 75-200 dollars.

I'm getting married in September and I found this GREAT makeup artist from Estee Lauder (In Manhasset)- Laura 516-869-9100 (at Estee) and 516-286-0026 (home). She just did my make up tonight and I loved it!!

$55.00 for the trial, $55.00 if you come to Estee or $75.00 if she comes to your home.

She's so sweet - not pushy at all. Totally listened to me.

Re: The abc's of hair / makeup? I would like to know your suggestions, ideas, opinions regarding..............

I had one make-up trial. It was free, except I paid extra for the airbrushing. Day of was $125.
I had two hair trials, one was free, but $200 the day of. The other was $50 for the trial, $100 the day of.
I don't know if it's better to have one person for both, I would think it totally depends on if you like the way they do both..... That might be a good question for the newlyweds.
Some will come to you the day of, some won't. That seems to be something they tell you up front anyway.
The only concern I had with my hair and makeup people was what kind of a back-up plan they had god forbid they should be sick or something that day.

I found this part to be difficult, but fun!
Good luck!
