Does anyone have the address or phone number of where to obtain a marriage license in NYC. I would like to go next week, and would appreciate any information thanks Lorraine

TOWN HALL

You can go to any town hall and apply for a liscense. If you go to the home page of liweddings.com...I believe there is a hyperlink you can click that will give you addresses. You must go with your fiance and both of you must have picture ID with you. Hope this helps!

I know Kate, that's what I'm afraid of. But I know there are a couple other out of state brides who either got married or are getting married on LI, so I was curious how th marriage license works.

You need a money order for the license. They don't take cash or personal check. We didn't know that and had to go to this seedy place down the street!

You can never really "catch up" on lost hours of sleep. But what you can do, going forward, is prioritize what you are doing in your waking time so you can try to get the proper amount of rest for the days leading up to your big day. I don't know what you do for a living, but can things at work be put on hold or delegated to a helpful coworker so you can leave work on time? can the unpacking in your new place (congrats by the way) wait until after the honeymoon? Also do as another bride here suggested and make a checklist so you can keep a clearer focus on what needs to be handled for the wedding day. Can your fiancee/friends help with any of it? When a person is tired/has the puffy eyes, it sometimes takes a few days of healthy rest to relieve it so try, try to take the opportunity now to start so you feel your best on the wedding day.

Maybe each location is different, but City Hall would not take cash or personal check. You're lucky! I wish it was that easy for us.

I work in advertising- very high pressure...and a large deadline is looming- just need one buyer to finish her work so I can begin my project...so that is a bit dreadful.

I printed out my checklist from theknot.com and added the personal items I needed.

My suggestion, is to call the town hall that you are going to go to, and ask what is all needed before you go there...and while you are at it, ask what they accept for payment (money order, check, etc).

If you are getting married in the state of New York, then you can go anywhere in the state of New York to get the marriage license - that is what I was told, but you can ask to make sure.
