vendor insurance
i am interested in working with a freelance photographer who presently does not have insurance coverage. the reception hall requires that the band have their own coverage but does not require the same for the photographer.who is then responsible if something is to go wrong? anyone experience something similar? is it okay to have the photographer sign a waiver stating he assumes all responsibility?
thanks.

Re: vendor insurance
I would talk to your hall about this one. I wonder why they require insurance for one vendor but not all?

Re: vendor insurance
Consider getting overall wedding insurance. Wedsafe.com has packages that start at $160 i think. I got it and I'm really glad I did.Nadine

Re: vendor insurance
the impression i get is that they will not check, but if something happens they will point to the contract and the bride and groom.so in essence it's our responsibility to make sure everyone is covered, not theirs...
i'll check into wedsafe - think it would cover the mentioned scenario or is it just best to require the photographer to be covered? my gut feeling tells me i think he should get coverage!

Re: vendor insurance
The reason I asked is because at our hall (FH), all vendors are required to have insurance. Even though this is the case, we too plan to look into wedsafe. Good Luck!

Re: vendor insurance
I think the photographer should get coverage - it can only be good for business. The caterer probably requires it from the band/dj because they will be setting up equiptment & using their electric. There's just a lot that could potentially happen although I never heard of anything happening.
I wonder if you could add a rider to your home insurance to cover an event outside your home?
