Does it matter if I wear my wedding band or e ring first?

I have tried on both ways and I prefer to wear my e ring first and then my wedding band. Some people say you have to wear the wedding band first then e ring, other say you can wear the e ring and then the wedding band.

Should I just do what I want?

Just wanted to clarify of course this is for after I'm married. I just mean how it looks when I try them on.

I wear my e-ring first and then my wedding band... a lot of people have told me its opposite and that the wedding band should be closer to your heart. My philosophy is that my e-ring cost a lot more than my wedding ring and if one was to slide off I'd rather it be my wedding ring - I mean I would still be really upset, but a least I wouldn't freak out... plus, I think my e-ring is more sentimental to me, in that DH picked it out himself and bought it for me. Thats just my opinion.... I'd wear them any way you were comfortable... it really doesn't matter.

Wedding ring first...the logic behind it is: nothing should be closer to your heart than your marriage.

But, technically you're wedding band is supposed to go on first...it's supposed to be closest to your heart.

This makes it hard. My e ring has a round center stone flanked by 2 baguettes. No wedding band lies flat against it unless I have one custome made w/the dip for where my center stone is. I love the band that has round stone, baguette, round stone, baguette, round stone. but I didn't love it when it comes first. I don't think anyway, I guess I could try it again and see how it looks.

I thought the jeweler told me the ther way, e-ring first.

I thought it was that way, b/c it came first- and at the wedding, son't you kep your e-ring on, and add the wedding ring.?

Actually my e-ring looksa better if I wear it first...I haven't decided what to do yet...I may have to waer it on seperate hands...my wedding band is kinda thick

Thanks ladies, I would rather wear my e ring first. The jeweler also told me that is the way to wear it. I just think it looks the best this way. And to me it doesn't matter where I wear it, what is in my heart is what counts, not the order of my rings.

I keep my wedding band first. I think most do. I wear it that way b/c I like how it looks.

Although I've heard various reasons for each.

For E-ring first:
DH got it for you first, as a promise and from his heart, so wear it first, seal the deal with the wedding band on the outside.

For Wedding band first:
This is ususally the ring blessed during marriage ceremony so keep it closer to your heart.

I think it doesn't matter. So I voted Do what you want

April, which one do you & your Mom agree with? I guess I'm looking for validation to do what I want. Most people think wedding band first. I don't normally care what the norm is but in the case I do.

I wear ering on my right hand and my wedding band on the left because i would have to get a wedding ring custom made to fit with my eband since the center stone is not is line with the two side stones

I don't think it matters---I am wearing my e-ring first then my wedding band b/c it looks better that way. I too said I would always wear my wedding bacng 1st then engagement ring until I saw that it looked better the opposite way.

It's fine to do it e-ring first then wedding band----

I was asking FH the same thing last week, and he had the best explanation I have heard so far.
My thinking was to put the e-ring first and then the band so the band can protect the e-ring from falling out.

FH said that since a lot of people don't wear their e-rings every day but you are never supposed to take off your band, you put the band on first so that you dont have to keep taking it off when you remove the e-ring. Makes sense.

But I think I'll wear the e-ring first anyway.
