How can I find the selling price of a house? (not asking price)

I want to look up a few specific recent home sales and find out exactly how much they sold for.

I know Newsday publishes this but I need to look up specific addresses.

Thanks

I think after the sales are final....the real estate agent can report them. There are some websites where you can put in an address and do a search for nearby houses. But not all agents do this...so they may not all be listed.

There's Domania.com , but they usually take a few-several months before they update their database.

There's Newsday's recent home sales. Type in the street and it should list recent sales. You may want to try different ways like:
Smith Street
Smith
Smith St.

Sometimes you get different retrievals depending on how the data was entered.

funny when you go to the Newsday site & search with no street name, look at the prices back from 2000, nice, wish it was that way now

This has assessment value in Nassau...

Not always selling price (can be higher or lower) but has some good info..we used it when we were bidding on our house. Like sites above just but in some addresses for the block you are interested in.

Denise - yep, I'm toggling back and forth between the nassau site and newsday! I plug in which house sold for what, then look up the house and see the specifics!

I just used the Newsday one for the first time today - lol! I saw my house and I just found out what the house across the street sold for about 3 months later - luckily is was a little more than mine or DH would have freaked.

Re: How can I find the selling price of a house? (not asking price)

This site will be invalueable to us! DH and I love this house nearby...went to the open house today and it's beautiful inside - all remodeled, hardwd flrs, etc., but it's really high, even for the area.

So I searched recent home sales in the area to see what was the norm, and it turns out this same house was only purchased 6 months ago, for about $145K less!!! Apparently, it was a fixer upper and someone bought it to make a profit. Not bad, huh?
