Coming back to work if you breastfeed?

How does it work? Do working mothers continue pumping after 3 months maternity leave, or do you somehow stop the milk flow?

I am just curious. I think I would like to BF, but will need to comeback after 3 months to keep my job.

Re: Coming back to work if you breastfeed?

One of my friends at work brought her pump, bottles and travel cooler to the office. She broke up her lunch time so she could pump during the day. Fortunately, we have private restrooms she was able to use.

Re: Coming back to work if you breastfeed?

Some women will pump at work if they want to keep BFing. It is challenging to find the time, privacy, etc., not to mention carrying the pump around, finding somewhere to store the milk. If you are committed, it can definetely be done but like I think we are all learning through the experiences of our BFing LIW friends, the whole thing is not easy. But, what worth doing really is?

My SIL pumped at work, and also pumped before going back to work, and froze them, so she always had extra, for when she brought the baby to the babysitter when she returned to work.

Re: Coming back to work if you breastfeed?

I have been back to work since my daughter was 6 weeks old and she's now 5 months old Wow time flies!!

I have been pumping ever since, I keep the pump in my office and just carry the milk and ice pack back and forth. I pump twice a day and get about 10 onces (Moo) it is time consuming but now it's routine.

I have no idea when I will stop and I don't seem to mind it.
