DESTINATION WEDDING GIFT QUESTION

I know this may have been asked a while back, but I cannot find the post.

What is the protocol in terms of giving a gift.

I had planned on giving what I would normally give at weddings.

My co worker thinks I am nuts, though I should not go by her opinions because at times she can be very socially inept.

In your experience, what do you think is fair to give?

Just to let you know, we are paying for everything ourselves.

Re: DESTINATION WEDDING GIFT QUESTION

I would give what I normally give - if I care enough about the person to travel for their wedding, I wouldn't conside travel expense into the equation.

Re: DESTINATION WEDDING GIFT QUESTION

we had about 100 people fly out to cali for ours and they all gave us what i believe they would have given us if they hadn't traveled. so i guess we would do the same if we were the ones traveling.

Re: DESTINATION WEDDING GIFT QUESTION

I gave the same that I would have for my brother's destination wedding, but he is my brother, so I am not sure if I would have lessened it for anyone else. I would probably give low end of what I normally give.

Re: DESTINATION WEDDING GIFT QUESTION

See, this is what I was doing anyway.

Always go with your instincts.

My co worker said if it were her she would bring a small gift.

What are you going to do wrap a punchbowl and bring it with you? How ridiculous!!!

Re: DESTINATION WEDDING GIFT QUESTION

I say give what you would give if their wedding was home. I don't think the expense of your travel should factor in.
