Where did you draw the line?

There are so many amazing ideas out there. What did you really love, but just could not bring yourself to spend that much money on?

For me, it was two things.

1. Sylvia Weinstock Cake
2. $500+ Flower girl dress

Re: Where did you draw the line?

THE THOUGHT OF SPENDING 500 ON A FG DRESS IS OUT OF THIS WORLD ! EXSPECIALLY IF THEY ARE ONLY WEARING IT FOR ONE DAY! I SPENT 85 ON MY GIRLS DRESSES AND THEY LOOK LIKE A MILLION DOLLARS! AS FOR THE OTHER I HAVE NO IDEA WHO THAT IS!

Re: Where did you draw the line?

The $10,000 Grucci fireworks that they offered to us for our July 3rd wedding. I just thought that was ridiculous for the money. I think it would have been cool to have everyone out on the back lawn of the mansion to watch fireworks at midnight, but no fireworks show is worth spending that money on.

Re: Where did you draw the line?

Well, my aunt is friends with one of the Grucci guys and this was the 'best' price they had. And THEY offered. We didn't even inquire. They were talking about our wedding over the summer and the guy was so psyched because it's right on the water, they could have done them in the harbor. But the money we would have to pay for insurance from our site would be nuts ontop of it. Some things are better left in fantasy land!

Re: Where did you draw the line?

I tasted Sylvia Weinstock cake at the Wedding March on Madison last year and to be honest I didn't think it tasted that good. My friends that I was with thought the same.

prncssrachel: Chances are someone will be shooting off fireworks anyway! My best friend got married July 4, 2000 (met my FH at her bachelorette party Silly Boardy Barn!) at Port Jeff Country Club and around 10pm there were incredible fireworks. We all went outside to watch and she got some great photos!

Also, I was at a wedding the day after christmas--Greek Orthodox & so over the top!!!--they hustled everyone outside post-ceremony for a 'surprise' It was really nice, but way too cold to stand outside for all that time!!!

Re: Where did you draw the line?

I have tasted a Sylvia Weinstock cake. It tasted good...like cake. You are really paying for the work she does.

There is another famous cake lady named Michelle Braun whose cake I liked better. I would have probably gone with her instead of SW.

Re: Where did you draw the line?

-I didn't draw the line, but DH did when it came to the Cynthia Peithman (Cakeline.com) cake. (I contacted Slyvia Weinstock, but she said she wouldn't recreate the cake I asked for. She would have to do her own interpertation, which is what I didn't want.)

-The candy bar. I purchased the glassware and urns, along with the scoops & crystal/gem sugar, but again DH put the kabosh on it. 1k in candy is kinda' unreasonable.
