Registering? Babies R Us vs. Buy Buy Baby

For those BTDT moms, where did you register, and were you happy with your decision?

I've always hated BRU and was pleased with BBB's service, but just wanted to see what other opinions were out there before it's our time to choose

Location is also important, since most of my family lives out East - BBB still has a location in Commack, correct?

(ETA - sorry, wanted to add a 3rd option of 'other' but it won't allow me to edit the poll)

Re: Registering? Babies R Us vs. Buy Buy Baby

It depends on where your friends/relatives live. If they can easily physically GET TO either store, then, in my opinion, Buy Buy Baby is such a better store, with better product variety, and better service. But, if your friends/family will be ordering online, then you should register at Babies R Us, because they have a MUCH better website online to order from. For some reason, BBB doesn't show their products, so you're stuck only looking at one or two types of products, when the stores really have TONS of them!!! But, as I said, if they can physically go to the stores, then definitely register at BBB.

Re: Registering? Babies R Us vs. Buy Buy Baby

I didn't vote because I registered at both. BBB had some things that BRU didnt have that I wanted, like my stroller, they didnt carry it a BRU. I had a great experience at both. Of course BRU's website is much more user friendly but I have found BBB's employees to be so much more knowledgeable about they products and very very helpful. I registered at the one is Westbury. I did notice that some of BBB's items were more expensive than BRU's a dollar or two here and there - mainly on smaller things. On the standard stuff, their prices are in line with one another. Lastly, I like that BBB carries some different items than BRU.> They have a beautiful selection of blankets....and $1000 bedding sets if you are in the market. LOL

I agree with everything Lauren said.

I registered at BBB at I was VERY happy with them. They took back lots of things with no receipts, no questions asked. Things that needed to be shipped were sent on time... I don't have a single complaint.

BBB's nearest store to Commack in in Melville. There is a BRU in Commack.

Re: Registering? Babies R Us vs. Buy Buy Baby

I registered at both for the same reasons as Elizabeth. I like both stores (BBB a bit better though). The thing I liked about BRU though was that they gave you coupons and stuff when you registered and BBB didn't give you anything. I still get coupons from BRU and have never received anything from BBB.

The only problem I had w/BBB was the dope who put me in the computer put in the wrong name and email, so there was a problem with people (me included) accessing my registry!!!

Have fun!!

Re: Registering? Babies R Us vs. Buy Buy Baby

Thanks everyone! I may end up needing to register at both depending on their stock of merchandise....

I thought there was a BBB in Commack but I'll have to check again. As long as there's one in Suffolk that should work - most of my family lives out there and will be shopping in the store - not online.

I heard clothes/diapers etc were cheaper in BRU so I'll know to go there for those things....I'll register for all the fun stuff at BBB!

Re: Registering? Babies R Us vs. Buy Buy Baby

We are in the process of registering and ordering our baby furniture. We are getting the furniture and bedding from BBB – we’ve been to both their stores in Westbury and Huntington (on Rt. 110). We will register for all the little incidentals at BRU basically because of the larger selection they have and the fact I think there’s more locations. Both places will take either coupons, so we’re using the 20% off coupon we just got in the mail from BBB to order the crib. Now it seems real! Best of luck Teri!

Re: Registering? Babies R Us vs. Buy Buy Baby

I registered at BRU, only because I did most of my registry online. I've heard great things about the staff at BBB, but it was all too overwhelming for me when I got there.
The BRU site is much more user friendly and I liked how a lot of things were rated by parents. That was a big plus for me. I just had other people go over it for me to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

The only thing that BBB had that I want is the Bugaboo stroller, but I think that I'm going to get that online anyway to save on tax.

I was very happy w/ BRU. I really didn't even consider BBB... no particular reason, I just felt BRU was more accessible.
