SOAPnet ACQUIRES DAYS OF OUR LIVES FROM SONY PICTURES TELEVISION
Thursday, December 11, 2003

Burbank, CA – SOAPnet has acquired same-day airing rights to the popular NBC Daytime drama Days Of Our Lives from Sony Pictures Television (SPT), announced Deborah Blackwell, General Manager, SOAPnet and Steve Mosko, President, SPT. Beginning Monday, March 15, 2004 fans of Days Of Our Lives, the number one rated daytime drama among Women 18-34, can see same-day episodes in primetime at 7PM and in a Sunday night marathon on SOAPnet. The multi-year deal also includes access to historical episodes for stunts and specials.
'SOAPnet's acquisition gives current and lapsed 'Days Of Our Lives' fans a new way to watch their favorite show. On SOAPnet you can get 'Days' at night,' said Blackwell. 'SOAPnet now provides four of the five top rated daytime soaps in primetime.'

'Days Of Our Lives is part of the fabric of American television,' said Mosko. 'The show has been on the air for almost 40 years, engaging its audience with compelling stories and wonderful performances. SOAPnet provides an incredible promotional platform for Days to the most loyal of soap fans.'

'Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.' For one-third of a century, those words have introduced and underscored one of daytime drama's mainstays. Days of Our Lives, which turned 38 in November, first premiered as a half-hour drama in 1965 and expanded to an hour 10 years later. Today, it is the favorite of female viewers (18-34) of daytime television serials.

Days of Our Lives is set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem. The core families are the Hortons and Bradys, and the multi-layered storylines involve elements of romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama. Original cast members Frances Reid and John Clarke continue to star as Alice and Mickey Horton.

Days of Our Lives is produced by Corday Productions Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television. Executive producer, Ken Corday, is following in the tradition of his parents, Betty and Ted Corday, who co-created Days of Our Lives and helmed the series for many years. Steve Wyman is co-Executive Producer. James E. Reilly is the headwriter.

Sony Pictures Television is one of the television industry's leading content providers. SPT produces and distributes top-rated, award-winning programming in every genre, including series, movies and family entertainment for network and cable television; first-run syndicated series; off-network syndicated programs; and theatrical releases. SPT (www.sonypicturestelevision.com) is a Sony Pictures Entertainment company.

SOAPnet, the new way to watch soaps, offers same day episodes of popular daytime dramas including All My Children, One Life To Live and General Hospital at night for convenient viewing. In addition, the network provides inside access to stars and storylines with original programs including the Emmy-nominated one-hour talk show, Soap Talk and the entertainment magazine show Soap Center. Wrapped in a 24-hour soapy environment, SOAPnet also offers primetime classics including Dynasty, Dallas, and Knots Landing as well as the former series Another World and Ryan's Hope.
