teachers-how do snow days work in your school

Where I work...

I think we are going to have a lot this year. In my school we lose the extra 3 days of the Memorial Day weekend first. Then, I think, we lose our 3 'half' days at the end of the year. Finally, we lose our April days. I hate snow!

whatever way they work it...its 180 days...

some schools take extra in dec or april...and some schools work in extra snow days...

just wanted to add...if its a state emergency...it doesn't count as a snow day - its free!!!

What's a Snow Day?? LOL I work in NYC, and they hardly ever have snow days.

We lost the Tuesday after Memorial Day, next is the Friday and from there they start to take off of April

The two times that we had snow days in New York City, we didn't lose any days. But I believe that one time (January of 1996 when the city got over 2 feet of snow) was a state of emergency, so it didn't count. But I believe the chancellor threw in 1 or 2 snow days just in case so we wouldn't lose any vacation days. But like Buttafli1277 said before, there is no such thing as a snow day in the city.

they will take off the days in May, For example, we get that Friday and Tuesday. So they will take theat Tuesday off first, in which we did last year.
It is nice having 5 days off in May
