Regretting Honeymoon choice to Sandals St. Lucia

I have been searching around for stories about Sandals and I am soooo upset. We booked the Regency with the plunge pool but I have read awful things about this resort. Everyone that went seems to have liked the Grande better? Now I don't know what to do? Do you think I can switch resorts? Final payment is due in August. Has anyone been to the Regency that had a nice experience. I am starting to panic

Re: Regretting Honeymoon choice to Sandals St. Lucia

I have heard very good things about all of the Sandals on St. Lucia. One of the girls on the board stayed in a room on the bluff with a plunge pool and loved it. Do a search for Sandals on the boards. There are so many positive reviews. I think that the Sandals that you chose was the largest, and if you enjoy nightlife you should be fine. I also think that you may be able to switch to another Sandals if you want.

Re: Regretting Honeymoon choice to Sandals St. Lucia

I have heard good and bad things but thats with every place. We are going to St.Lucia and staying at the Regency. The Grande is really nice and we can visit there too. The only real difference between the two places is that the Grande has most of the water activities.
You should get in contact with corinne7477 she has helped me out alot. She went on her honeymoon at St.Lucia and she loed it. She will give you some good pointers too.

Dont be discouraged!!

If you want you can FM me if you have any questions.

Re: Regretting Honeymoon choice to Sandals St. Lucia

I will be honest with you, I was just at the grande in april. We went over to the regency to visit. Compared to the grande the regency was older looking, needed some fresh paint. It was also very spread out. It seemed like it took forever to walk from one restaurant to another, also, the beach was not as nice. This is just my opinion. I thought the grande was just incredible. But, you will have a nice honeymoon at either one. You really will.

Re: Regretting Honeymoon choice to Sandals St. Lucia

My friend just returned from her HM at a sandals St Lucia 2 wks. ago, im not sure exactly which on, but they booked the room with the plunge pool too. They switched their room the next day bc the pool was infested with Geckos there translucent frogs that were really lous, and strange Jungle bugs, so they never hada chance to use it. They were also told the villas came with a golf cart to get around and it didnt. She wasnt crazy about sandals at all, but they did have a great time together, and said they managed to make it fun. Just some advice im sure you have tme to change plans, she was warning everyone to not go to a sandals. Good luck, any where u go you will have fun, she did!!!

Re: Regretting Honeymoon choice to Sandals St. Lucia

If you are having any doubts...go with your gut feeling.

If you want to change it, then do so.

It's your honeymoon and you should be happy.

Re: Regretting Honeymoon choice to Sandals St. Lucia

to get many more reviews...visit

tripadvisor

this is a great source of information with many many reviews in 1 place

i would think they would let you change since payment is not booked in full....as long as you don't cancel totally with sandals...they won't keep your deposit and stuff

Re: Regretting Honeymoon choice to Sandals St. Lucia

Thank you everyone for all of your help!! I am going to call the travel agent tomorrow and change the hotel. I think we will stay at the Grande. I am just upset that the room categories are not the same. It seems that the Regency has more of a suite selection. How much time is actually spent in your room though except at night Thanks again!

Re: Regretting Honeymoon choice to Sandals St. Lucia

I adore sandals. I have gone to three locations and for our honeymoon we are going to st. lucia but havent' decided which Sandals. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG :) you can play at all three...so pick the Sandals that has most of what you want.

Re: Regretting Honeymoon choice to Sandals St. Lucia

I stayed at the Regency and didn't question my decision one bit. We visited all three and we felt the the Golf and Spa was the best of the three. Yeah, it is older and probably could use a paint job but it was the one that we had the most fun at. The people that we were there were so friendly and nice, both guests and staff. We spent the day at the Grande and it is beautiful, but we had the WORST service over there. It took us 45 minutes to get a drink at the swim up bar and it was not crowded- why because they guy kept messing up the orders. We asked another couple if this was normal and they said Yes, I know that at the Regency Glenn didn't have to ask me twice he knew soon as he saw me coming up! (God, I sound like a huge drinker) At the Regency it didn't seem like anyone was praticipating in any of the games or events but at the Regency there was always something going on. We also like the food much better at the Regency. The Grande has more of a hotel feel. The Grande has better beach water because it is on the bay and the Regency is on the Ocean so we were Red Flagged a lot in July but that was not a huge deal to us.

Yes, the Regency is more spread out but there is a bus that runs constantly or walk- that is what we did- you need to walk after all the food you eat!! But being spread out is nice, because if you get bored with one view go to the other side of the resort for something new!

I think it depends what you are looking forward from your honeymoon. If you want a laid back, hang out at the beach and soak up the sun honeymoon, I think the Grande is for you. If you like to do activities and party and play games then the Regency is probably the way to go for you.

But with Sandals I don't think you could go wrong either way!

Feel free to FM if you have any questions.

Re: Regretting Honeymoon choice to Sandals St. Lucia

we stayed at the halcyon but met couples from the regency. If you want to change for your peace of mind, I would. However I think you will have a truly amazing time no matter where on st lucia you stay. Please don't stress on this too much!

Re: Regretting Honeymoon choice to Sandals St. Lucia

We are going in June and staying at the regency in St. Lucia in the two level villa with the butler service and the plunge pool. I personally know many who have gone to the regency, all loved it and said it was so amazing if you were lucky enough to stay in the bluff with the pool and butler service, all the other friends of ours said it was good, but nothing like the bluff area. Its so expensive to stay up there, so I sure hope its worth the money.
