Heartbroken...Finally fell in love with a gown...BUT (now w/pic)

Well, as some of you know I've been searching for my gown for quite awhile now. Yesterday I finally found one. And yep, I got that 'feeling' and I just KNEW it was the 'one'. Actually I fell in love with THREE gowns yesterday!! And there is a problem with EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Gown #1 - It was the first gown I put on yesterday and I instantly fell in love with it. I'd never seen anything like it and now I can't even find a pic of it. Problem? It doesn't come in white. Only ivory & gold and it's just WAY too dark.

Gown #2 - Since gown 1 didn't work out I kept going and fell in love with another gown. This one is silk satin and only comes in 'Natural'. WTF color is natural??? This was gonna be 'THE ONE' since the other one didn't work out. Anyway, I don't think it's white enough either.

Gown #3 - Now this gown was the first gown I ever fell in love with right after we got engaged and I started looking at wedding dresses. I'd been searching hi and low for someone who had the sample so I could try it on. Finally Bridal Reflections had a Pucchi trunk show so I went and tried it on. It was everything I dreamed it would be and more and it comes in white!! But it's way, way, way, too much money -- more than I could EVER justify spending on a gown that I only wear once.

I am so SAD. I don't know what I'm going to do now. I don't even want to shop for gowns anymore because I know I already found my gown in one of those three...

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Anyone have wedding pics in their 'natural' gown??? I don't know what the hell I'm going to do now.

Re: Heartbroken...Finally fell in love with a gown...BUT

from what i have read, and i could be realllly wrong, but isn't natural like a soft ivory? try theknot.com and see if you can find a sample on there. it might not be the stark hospital white that most gowns are but maybe a little softer and warmer.

Well... ive heard Bridal Reflections is ALWAYS expensive. But now that you've tried it on and love it, go shop the price elsewhere. Online perhaps? I found my dress and loved it and got a deal at Macy's (I know your dress probably isnt at Macy's because of the designers Bridal Reflections holds).

Still the point is.. SHOP girl! You've tried it on so it's not like you're buying it blind. Have faith and keep trying! Or find a dress with similar features not by that designer and give THOSE dresses a try and see what happens.

Re: Heartbroken...Finally fell in love with a gown...BUT

Look at netbride.com and see if they have it there. They have aweseome prices. You'll have to find someone to do your alterations, but that shouldn't be too hard.

Look at the dresses at Macy's - they have Diamond Bride and Demetrios. That's the first place I went to and the second dress I tried on was the one I bought (I looked at other dresses after that at other salons and they couldn't compare).
Keep looking, you'll find something!

Silk can never be pure white, just so you know. It's almost a silvery white. Just so you know. but have you looked on bridesave.com?

Re: Heartbroken...Finally fell in love with a gown...BUT

If you are shopping at Bridal Reflections and places like that, you are probably looking at silk gowns. Silk is a natural fiber and can not be a pure white...so thats probably why you are having problems with the color.

If you want a pure white, then you should look at dresses made of man made fabric (aka polyester). Not only will you be able to get the shade you want, dresses made of man made materials are much less expensive.

Re: Heartbroken...Finally fell in love with a gown...BUT

I would be thrilled if this dress was even silk white -- it's not even close. It almost looks pink!!! I don't need hospital white, just something closer to white rather than closer to beige for crying out loud it's a friggin wedding gown -- why the F wouldn't it be available in white!!! What is wrong with these designers???

Re: Heartbroken...Finally fell in love with a gown...BUT

Here is a pic of gown #1.... the picture is dark but I think you can still tell how dark the gown is....especially the bodice. The bodice is gold and the skirt is 'ivory' silk organza.

That dress is very pretty . . . I can see if you want a white gown why you would not be happy with the color of this bodice. I personally don't see that rest of the dress as dark. Who is the designer of the first dress? Is it St. Pucci also?

Re: Heartbroken...Finally fell in love with a gown...BUT (now w/pic)

I think a lot of designers are using darker silks b/c they look more vintage and evoke a certain style.

The dress you posted looks very 'old world' so I think the darker fabrics work beautifully with it.

But dont give up, if you are set on a white gown, keep looking, Im sure you will find something that is perfect.

WOW.. that gown is absolutely beautiful.. I don't think it's too dark at all.. it's still a wedding gown.. If you like it then you go for it.. BUT.. if YOU feel like it's too dark then don't.. BUt IMO, I love it

JMO, I love dress #1. I think it is beautiful! But I know what you mean about a white wedding gown. Definetly keep looking if you are totally not happy. Don't settle. It's your wedding gown. FYI: Bridal Reflections has inexpensive dresses also. My dress was very low in price that I bought there but Pucchi dresses in general are on the expensive side wherever you go.

JB, you have to decide if you feel comfortable with a darker/ivory gown. If its something you don't like then I can see you not going with it. If you think you must have a white gown, I have noticed wedding dresses in all shades of white and ivory and your dress is very pretty!

Re: Heartbroken...Finally fell in love with a gown...BUT (now w/pic)

I am getting an Ivory and Champagne gown. I always planned on getting white but when I tried this one on I knew it was the one, in those colors. I would get the dress! But...if you really are set on getting white why don't you see if a dress maker can make you one in White, or have the dressmaker make a knockoff of the expensive gown?

This is gown #3.... I'm going to see if I can get a more reasonable price anywhere but I know (and I knew going into this) that this gown was going to be money. This gown is comes in the white shown which is really a silk white and it's perfect.

Re: Heartbroken...Finally fell in love with a gown...BUT (now w/pic)

You seem to be looking at expensive gowns. You might be able to find a less expensive knock-off that is very similar. Ask the bridal salons and see what they show you. You could also check the dress search on the Knot - just put in the sleeves, neckline, etc and see what the results are. There's always the internet too. Don't give up yet!
