Milleridge Brides- *new*Vendor question
For those of you that had/are having your wedding at the Milleridge Cottage or Carriage house, did you get any information from them regarding reccomended vendors after you signed your contract?I met with them once, and got a folder of details with menu choices etc, & there was a flyer for the Millerdige florist. then whenwe booked, we signed the contract & mailed it back. I haven't heard anythign since then. Am I supposed to?

Re: Milleridge Brides- Vendor question
When I booked I asked about recommended photographers. They gave me the cards for Paul Marino and Great Neck Photography. That was about it. I am sure if you call your BM they will give you some recommendations. Otherwise I think that we are on our own.Good Luck

Re: Milleridge Brides- Vendor question
Thanks. I'll look into great neck photographers. When did you book the floirst in relation to when you booked the hall & the date of your wedding?
I think I am going to use their florist, but I haven't contacted them at all.
I guess this applies to all florists, but do you book first, then make specific arrangemenets later?

Re: Milleridge Brides- *new*Vendor question
We blocked our rooms at the Plainview Marriott...they were VERY accomodating to us. Especially since we got married the weekend of a blizzard and our rehearsal dinner restaurant cancelled on us.At the last minute the Plainview Marriott managed to put together a rehearsal dinner for us for around 25 people...AND they even printed up rehearsal dinner menus with our names on them...they were AWESOME to deal with.

Thanks! I was thinking of the Fairfeild Inn in Syosset, but I don't know if they block rooms. I'll have to call & find out.

Re: Milleridge Brides- *new*Vendor question
i'm going to piggy-back on this thread...my concern is more where we are spending our wedding night...all our guests are local except for a handful so blocking rooms is not necessary...but i do want to have that first night somewhere other than home since fh's parents will be here and staying at the house (can't quite spend our wedding night with fmil and ffil)...so it doesn't have to be close to the milleridge, but i want a romantic atmosphere...any suggestions?

Melanee...how about the Fox Hollow Inn? I've heard they are nice but a little expensive...may not be too far from the Milleridge for you.

Re: Milleridge Brides- *new*Vendor question
I was thinking of the Fox Hollow for us & someplace else, for guests. I don't want to go home- its about anhour away it'll probabaly be a mess, and I don't want to stay with family on LI. my friends stayed at the garden City Hotel, a little pricey, but it was a gift from the grooms parents.

Re: Milleridge Brides- *new*Vendor question
we booked our tuxes with Boneventure Tux shop in Garden city and they gave us a discount coupon to the Garden City Hotel... we got the room 1/2 off!!!!!So that is where we are staying. WAY worth is and Boneventure's prices were pretty much the same as everyone else we looked at.
As for the florist... we got a flyer from the Milleridge Florist a few months after we booked asking us to come in and talk with them.
We are not using the Milleridge florist... but we plan on using the 13 dozen roses we are getting with the package to decorate our cake, the mantle and the staicase.
edited for spelling.

Re: Milleridge Brides- *new*Vendor question
Thank you Cheryl. By the way, great avatar- I love penquins, I have some as my desktop wallpaper. Can I ask why you decided not to go with Milleridge Florist. So far I haven't heard anything bad about them. Did you just get a better price elsewhere?
I'm so confused about all that. I have no Idea when to look for one, and if I need to know exactly what I want at that point.
So, you're staying at the Garden City Hotel, where are your guests staying?
My mom was surprised that they didn't send a packet pushing their reccomended vendors. I don't now if only some places do that, or if that is just her 1970 wedding knowledge creeping in again.

Re: Milleridge Brides- *new*Vendor question
I actually liked the fact that the Milleridge Cottage allows you to use your own vendors. They didn't even push the Milleridge Florist on us.All of the vendors that we used though were vendors that they had recommended. WE loved them all!!!

Re: Milleridge Brides- *new*Vendor question
When we booked with the Milleridge we were given a folder with vendor cards and flyers but they were informational only. Our BM, Leslie, (who is so awesome to work with) never pushed any of them on us. We didn’t use any of the recommended vendors except for the Milleridge florist. I liked that they were located on the grounds but more importantly they were amazing to work with. We worked with Chris and had the greatest experience. You will not be disappointed with their service or their work!

That's more what I was expecting. Not so much *pushing* but more offering suggestions, without be us askign for them first.
I just got a flyer for the florsit in the folder with the reception info when first saw them. All the contract stuff was done through the mail.
Its not a big deal, I have lots of suggstions from people here, mom & I were just wondering what the norm was.
and as a separate thing, I as wonderign abotu hotels locally.

Re: Milleridge Brides- *new*Vendor question
I used the Milleridge Florist and my flowers were beatuiful. One of my favorites parts about the day! As for hotels, we blocked rooms at the Wingate Inn right by Roosevelt Field Mall. It is very convenient to the Milleridge and they were great to work with. The hotel is fairly new and very nice. Free breakfast is also included everyday which helps those that are traveling. As for the wedding night, we drove right into Manhattan for a couple of nights. (we took our honeymoon a couple months after the wedding). I too, did not want to stay at anyones house, nor did I want to stay in the hotel that our guests were staying at. So we escaped to the city and had a blast!

Re: Milleridge Brides- *new*Vendor question
i'll check out prices at both garden city and fox hollow in...it is only for one night so that fh and i can get some quality time...tourist, we only got cards and info on recommended vendors when fh inquired about them the day we booked...however, we might end up passing on them other than the milleridge florist only because they are in the premises...
