Gift Ideas needed for 'Cheer Up' / 'Get Well

My boss at work has been going through ALOT. Daily blood tests, constant biopsies, and several other things I hate going into detail, since its her personal life. Some tests have come out positive, and yesterday they sent out for more testing. (First it was her breasts, now her ovaries)
She's an incredibly strong woman. She would STILL come to work if Drs didnt specifically tell her not to, pain and all.

I really have no idea what to get her, and since she's such a strong woman, something very mushy might break her down, does that make sense? My mom thinks candles as part of a gift are NOT the greatest idea, and this lady works at a nail salon part time, so she gets that stuff done all the time (nails, eyebrows, etc). She's a 'young and hyp' (in her 50's or so)grandma, and she's into decorating her home...
I cant think of what type of gift to get her or even a few small items to put together.
I got her bath&body, journal type stuff for xmas.

Any ideas? I cant imagine the pain and heartache shes been going through, from medications and tests. and at work she puts on this big smile for the kids.

Say a prayer and keep your fingers crossed for good news.
Ideas or opinions?

Even though she works at a nail salon, I think a day of beauty at a nice salon would be great. How wonderful would it be for her to get a great massage, relaxing facial and a comforting pedicure. I think it would be a great relaxing day for her

Re: Gift Ideas needed for 'Cheer Up' / 'Get Well

What kind of make-up does she wear? Maybe something like a gift certificate to the Estee Lauder counter for a make-over?

Or a gift certificate to her favorite restuarant?

Pajama's / sweats for comfort? With a nice CD?

Maybe a restaurant gift certificate? Or a chenille blanket (kind of hip, not old ladyish)

Re: Gift Ideas needed for 'Cheer Up' / 'Get Well

Since she can't come to work I would get her something that she could use to occupy her day. When I was in the hospital after having my apendix removed someone got me a book of crossword puzzles and I loved it. Maybe (if that is too dorky ) she would like some sort of a scrapbooking gift or a cross stich kit. Something to pass the time until she recovers.
