looking for beach in LI for wedding- free or cheap
I am a out-of-town bride-to-be looking for a beach for a small ceremony possibly in may. My future in-laws live in hewlett (southwest LI) and the reception will be at their home. Anyone know of any nice beaches that allow free or inexpensive weddings for parties of about 25? One near hewlett would be best. Also, are there any resources to find a justice of the peace? Help!

I'm not really sure where Hewlett is exactly, but I know my friends got married on the beach at Jones Beach and they needed a permit (but they made it on News 12 :) You might want to call the Town Clerk's office, they might be able to issue a permit, or at least give you some direction.Good luck!

I don't think The Crescent would allow you to have a ceremony on their property without you having the reception there.

I would call the Town/village clerk for both ... they can surely recommend a JOP and if they do not have a town beach, they coudl probably tell you what is nearby and whether or not you would need a permit, etc.

There's a bluf in Sea Cliff (commenly known as Sunset Park - at the end of Sea Cliff Ave). It overlooks the water and is very pretty. I've been to a wedding there and it was lovely. I don't think you need a permit, but wouls call Sea Cliff Village Hall just to make sure.FM me if you need more details.

I live in Long Beach which is about 15 minutes away from Hewlett. There have been many weddings on the beach. I think you need to get a permit from city hall and pay a fee - like $100 or something like that. If you are doing it before Memorial Day weekend, the beaches won't be officially open and there will be no charge for your guests. Long Beach City Hall is (516) 431-1000/
