Travel agent or DIY?
I want to go to Hawaii for our honeymoon. Hopefully we''lgo to 2 or 3 islands. DO you guys think its better to go to a Travel Agent or do it yourself (like expedia.com or something?)

Re: Travel agent or DIY?
I would do the research yourself and then contact an agent to see if they can 'do better'...Also, be careful with expedia.com as they have restictions and fine print that can screw you out of $$ if you need to change things last minute...

I am a DIY-er. I thought I had enough time and FMIL has been on soooooooo many trips she gave us good advice. She was my travel agent for free. I had no idea about travel insurance and all that stuff.ets - Cruises are a bit different though.

I would go for a travel agent.... unless you know of great places that can give you like th 3rd, 4th or 5th night free. I'm getting the 5th night free for 2 islands and I think that is making a difference. I just booked a HM for hawaii... FM me if you want more info!Good luck!

Re: Travel agent or DIY?
I agreee with sammi102. I would go with a TA. She got us 2 free nights and is still working on cheaper airfare. She was a pleasure to work with and patient with us.I did do research on my own and found that going via the TA was cheaper because she knkew the packages and deals.

Re: Travel agent or DIY?
My recommendation is to check both and see you can give you the best deal. We did DIY because we knew an agency through the Internet in Florida that my parents used and were very happy with. It is easier if you know a good agent to use online. If not a TA is great because you can meet them face to face and there is a better chance of people you know who have used them.

Re: Travel agent or DIY?
Whichever you choose. make sure you buy travel insurance. DH & I would have been out $3000 if we did not get the insurance. Also, you can check things out on the web & then bring it to an agent, like Applevacations.com & stuff.

Re: Travel agent or DIY?
I did some research myself so that we were educated when we went to the TA. It's easier for a TA to coordinate interisland flights and such on a trip to Hawaii. If you're just going to one place, I think it's pretty easy to do it yourself, but for Hawaii a TA will be better.Welcome New Vendors
