BTDT moms: Lyndsey is refusing baby food...

All she wants to eat is what I am eating! This is making it very hard... I guess she's tired of the mush. She does well with chunks, but will not even try the Stage 3 meals. So I am basically cooking/preparing a meal for her 3 tines a day, which is time consuming. I have been buying the Gerber diced fruit and the chicken "sticks", which I am embarrassed to admit she LOVES. (they look like dead fingers).

Is 9 months a little young for this?? (eating strictly table foods)

Also, have any suggestions for good finger foods to try? THANKS!!

Good for her!! According to my ped you can start table foods at 9 months, just keep the pieces small. I think you are lucky since Ryan won't even eat his Cheerios or any other "table" food I've tried to give him at 8 1/2 months...I'm tired of looking at the mush and I would figure he is too!!

How about mashed potato, mushy veggies (like carrots and peas), yogurt, pastina, egg yolk, cheerios??

Try scrambled eggs, YoBaby yogurts, applesauce (adult applesauce), mashed sweet potatoes, pastina w/butter, cheese and a little bit of milk, etc.

You could even take some of the table food that you and DH are eating and put it through a food mill and give her that....she will at least get the "taste" of what you are eating, but will not have as much chunky food to chew.

One other "trick" from a BTDT Mom....you can give her some soft chunks of carrots or something on the highchair tray to distract her while you spoon the smoothe stuff into her mouth!

Annalise was on all table food by 9 months too. She refused anything from a jar except for an occassional fruit puree. She did fine with soft foods from our plate. I keep Gerber Graduates Pasta Pickups, chicken nuggets, and fish sticks on hand for nights we have food she cannot eat. I cook some canned low sodium or frozen organic veggies until they are soft and give her them with the meat/fish. She has YoBaby yogurt on most days too. Make sure to ask the dr. about vitamins if she does not already take them. It helps make up for anything they may be lacking on days where they don't eat well.
