New Years Eve Wedding
Has anyone ever gotten married on new years and what is the general opinon of this? I think it may be kind of cool but I also feel I may put guests out, perhaps its not how they want to spend their holiday. I dont know just asking cause I hear it is way cheaper to do this, and since I'm on my own with the saving (me and my FI have to pay for the whole thing and he is a Marine on a VERY limited budget) I was considering.Opinions please???????????????TY Girls

Re: New Years Eve Wedding
I would go! Weddings, especially the receptions are one big party anyway. I think it would be a really fun way to spend the night. You could have your own countdown to midnight and everything. It could make a cool 'themed' wedding. I myself am getting married on Labor Day (although we are not saving money on our hall this way). Good luck on whatever you decide!

I would go to a New Years Eve Wedding! If you do choose that as your date, you may want to send out Save the Dates nice and early so your guests don't make other plans for New Years.

Re: New Years Eve Wedding
My FH's cousin got married this past New Years Eve at Flowerfield. It was cool. I had a great time. I don't know if it was any cheaper though, but it was a good time.

Re: New Years Eve Wedding
it sounds like a fantastic way to spend ny's however, i think holidays are more expensive. dj's and photographers and all them may charge more.

Re: New Years Eve Wedding
I think it's a great idea, I'd love to go to a NYE wedding. People are always looking for something to do that night.Don't know if it's cheaper though. I hear they have to pay employees holiday pay, which would increase the price.
Check it out though.

Re: New Years Eve Wedding
I personally like the idea. It's always a struggle to figure out what to do for New Years, but that's for people our age. On the flip side, older people may have their own plans or usually spend New Years wit their familes (who may not be invited to your wedding). I agree with sending STD if you're going to do that. I actually read about a New Years wedding that had the reception first and the couple got married at midnight. You can give out noise makers and personalized champagne glasses as favors. Just a few thoughts.ETA: Your colors could be black and silver, that would be very fitting.

Re: New Years Eve Wedding
I am getting married new years eve of next year. The reason we chose this date is because so often noone knows what they are doing that night and why not ring in the new year as a newlyweds with all of your friends and family. So far everyone we have told is extremely excited and because we are planning so far ahead of time it should not interfere with any of their plans. We are also planning of sending out save the dates with our christmas cards this year as a reminder so that noone makes any plans this new years eve for next. The only downfall is that it is not cheaper. I thought the same thinking it is winter and not a high season but I forgot that all of the vendors have to pay their employees extra to work on the holiday so unfortunately many of the prices have extra fees.We did have a difficult time finding a hall though only because many have contracts with companies whose parties they host evey year, or the halls themselves host parties and in order for them to cancel their event you would have to guarantee at least 200 people and they charge a pretty price which I understood. Also a few of the places wouldnt even do a new years wedding.
So far we have booked our hall, DJ, photographer, videographer and florist. If you have any questions about prices or who we are using FM me.

Re: New Years Eve Wedding
As a guest, I'd love to go to a wedding on NYE! I think it would be lots of fun. The only thing I might not like would be having to celebrate my wedding anniversary every year on new year's. But if you don't mind that, I say go for it! I would definitely send out save the dates way in advance so that people would not make other plans.Welcome New Vendors
